    Stacks upon stacks of horror movies have been piling up. What are we to do??? Take part in
    The Annual October Horror Movie Watching Thread
    that's what!!!!! It's better than Christmas! It's better than Easter! It's time to watch a ton of horror movies in the month of October!!!

    Here's how it works: Every year the people here on Horror Digital watch a crap load of horror-related movies/tv shows and then come to this thread to brag, write a review, post pics, or get ideas for what to watch next. Just do a post for each movie you watch for each day. It really is fun, especially if everyone joins in and gets in the spirit. It lasts all month and hopefully everyone will join in starting October 1st at 12 a.m. Sound like fun? Of course it does. Sound hard? Not at all. Just check out last year's thread to get an idea how it works. It's here.

    I'm coming back this year. Every year between '07 and 2012 I've tried and failed. Miserably. So I stopped trying the last 3 or 4 years. But, this year I'm coming back.

    I couldn't find anything before 2006. I searched for "October" and got only 5 pages of results. I searched for "Track" and didn't get anything before 2006.

    Here are my awful previous years' efforts (I didn't start in '07 as stated above, I got that wrong):

    2008 - 1-7 (36 movies total)

    2009 - 1-8, 9-12, 13-15 (15 movies total) (worst overall 'score'?)

    2010 - 1, 2, 3 & 4, 5-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-16, 17-18, 19-20, 21-22, 23-27, 28-29
    TV - 1, 2, 3 (29 horror movies, about 9 TV episodes, 2 bonus holiday-appropriate movies)

    2011 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17
    TV - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 (17 horror movies, over 10 TV episodes)

    2012 - 1-2, 3, 4-5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (10 movies total... easily my worst "attempt")

    I'm anticipating October the first as usual. Everything is in order and I hope to get through a lot of first time viewings, a number of which I'm really looking forward to (Under the Shadow, 31, Phantasm 5, ect.) Bring it on!

    Here's a look back at years past. I seem to average around 80 films each year, so I'll assume I will get through that same amount.

    I am planning on coming back and making a huge improvement on my last couple of years' weak performances. Already several planned to enjoy!!! Could somebody please talk me out of starting again with Trick or Treats, though? It sucks but every year I can't seem to resist coming back for more!!! Even David Carradine and Peter Jason can't save it!

    In 2015, I watched 16 films (+1 I watched twice), and out of those 10 were first-time viewings.

    My goal this year is to watch the below, but I have tons of travel planned in October, so I anticipate the films will change based on what the airlines have available.

    Out of curiosity, when do you consider the "cutoff date" to be (midnight on October the 31st, or the early hours of November the 1st)?

    I ask because traditionally, a lot of people watch movies on Halloween (into the early morning of the next day), and obviously some of the movies end up being watched after midnight, when it's already November.

    Just curious. :)

    It's whatever you want it to be, funktion. And you can define the start time whenever you want as well. The only time we ever get o_O in this thread is when someone posts that they watched more films in a day than is humanly possible.

    Yeah basically I go by the rule of whenever I fall asleep on Halloween night. So theoretically if you stay awake till November 2nd you could count anything you watched on the 1st. :)

    But there's really no rules except watch and share.

    For All Hollow's Eve itself I'd say until the end of the marathon. I mean, if you crank out film after film until Christmas and no break, more power to you. :cool: For October 1st I'm personally a stickler for Midnight. I usually pencil in a World of the Worlds themed night September 30th and then kick off the seasonal festivities at 12AM, the witching hour, with Vampira. Feels appropriate to me.

    For day to day in October my rule of thumb has been whatever I watch throughout the night counts for that one day; mostly because I'm not even home until 6PM. So it's a smaller window and I have theme nights, so it could look wonky to split a day like that in the final tally (eg: 10/10 Halloween>HalloweenII>BrideoftheMonster>Plan9. then 10/11 NightoftheGhouls>EdWood>HouseofUsher>MasqueofRedDeath). But it depends, if I know I'm going to be too busy the following day I'll make a midnight style cutoff. It's kinda like the designated hitter rule; if you're National playing at American you use a designated hitter 'cause you can. :D

    But my staying past midnight days are over so while these rules are still in my playbook they don't come up very often. :oops:

    My silly question wasn't so much in result of this particular thread, but funnily enough, on the last few days me and some friends had a long, peaceful disagreement on the "rules" for a 31 day horror marathon.
    Last year, for the first time in several years, I managed to watch an horror movie on each of the 31 days of October, something I used to do when I was younger, and suggested a friendly competition among my friends, fellow horror fans, to see which ones would watch more movies during October/Halloween season.
    Some were a bit extreme on their understanding, and argued only movies watched from 12am on October the 1st, until midnight on October the 31st, should count. A few other people, myself included, found that a bit "wrong", because on Halloween, starting late night, it's when many people end up watching several movies in a row, some certainly watched after midnight.

    In case your wondering if these are 16 year old kids, without much better to do, arguing about utterly trivial and useless things, it was actually a group of guys in the late 30's, 40's and even 50's... :D

    I think we will settle on counting movies watched from 12am on October the 1st, until 7am (dawn) of November the 1st. :)

    Ready to go here. I had started marathoning for Halloween about 5 or so years ago. The goal was 1 a day so 31 total. In 2013 I got 36, 2014 I saw 58, and then I stumbled upon this thread last year and oh man you guys sent me into overdrive with a total of 102. It's a blast adding the discussion into the marathon with everyone here and I am looking forward to it again this year. Bring the 1st on and let's go!
