Here we go again ghouls and gals. It's time to scare ourselves silly by watching a whole lot of horror films to the exclusion of all else. No friends, no family, just horror movies!!!! Bwahahahaha!!!

....ok maybe you don't need to get that crazy about it, but it's time for

The Annual October Horror Movie Watching Thread!!!

Here's how it works: Every year the people here on Horror Digital watch a crap load of horror-related movies/tv shows and then come to this thread to brag, write a review, post pics, or get ideas for what to watch next. Just do a post for each movie you watch for each day. It really is fun, especially if everyone joins in and gets in the spirit. It lasts all month and hopefully everyone will join in starting October 1st at 12 a.m. Sound like fun? Of course it does. Sound hard? Not at all. Just check out last year's thread to get an idea how it works. It's here.

So let's get this party started...on October 1st.

I wasn't feeling all Halloween-y yet but now that I've posted this, I feel my anticipation rising. I don't think I'll get anywhere near the movies I watched last year but I'm going to try really hard.

I feel like I actually usually watch less horror stuff in October, but I'll post what I do watch here.

You don't want people to start partying too early or they'll be burned out before the main event.

    Some October recommendations:

It's the Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus 200th Anniversary of publishing. Of course there are hundreds of movies with The Monster to watch but here's four films which cover Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's infamous night at Lord Byron's estate inspiring the tale which has been accounted now in four films:
    Gothic (1986)
Rowing with the Wind ( Remando al viento ) (1988)
    Haunted Summer (1988)
Mary Shelley (2017) staring Ella Fanning, although I hear it's not good.

The infamous broadcast of Orson Welles's The War of the Worlds will have it's 80th Anniversary on 10/30/38. You can find the original broadcast nearly anywhere because it's in the public domain. And there's lots of alien invasion movies to choose from as well. But here's a couple of recommendations.
Frankenstein Meets the Spacemonster (1965) - Two for one with Frankenstein and invading aliens (although it's not really Frankenstein's Monster in this)
Spaced Invaders (1990) set on Halloween where Martians hear the broadcast and think they are finally invading Earth and crash on the planet.
    Invader ZIM: "Germs" S01E04 (4/20/01)

Bela Lugosi's Birthday is 10/20 and he starred in four film with Frankenstein's Monster.
Son of Frankenstein (1939) - Many consider it his best performance besides Dracula.
    The Ghost of Frankenstein (1942)
Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943) - PLAYED the monster in Meets the Wolf Man (although infamously poorly. Still tons of fun though.).
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) - As Dracula and many contented it's his best take as Dracula (though they are wrong. Deeply wrong.)

    Frankenstein Friday 10/26
As I said, it's the anniversary, so I've already given some oddball suggestions. So here's a collection of Frank titles I made months back that I was going to work from for my October schedule.

    Universal:
    Frankenstein (1931)
The Bride of Frankenstein, The (1935)
Son of Frankenstein (1939) An extended version has been made widely available over the past few years

    Deliverance (1972)
    The Maddening (1995)
Frankenstein and Me (1996) - An obvious Frankenstein hookup and from what I hear worth checking out. But I've not seen any copies readily available online (at least at a decent price) even on the dark web.

Ready to roll. Love participating in this thread every year. Probably won't hit my normal number of movies, but have collected quite a few 1st time watch blu's for this years run!

I was just thinking the same thing. I watch Horror movies throughout the year but I don't really set aside a bunch for October (other than the original Halloween). Im going to make an effort to post in the thread this year though.

I watch horror all year long, so (too me and my girlfriend) the October month is just like any other month. Though we usually watch the favorites, during the Halloween weekend.

I know how you feel. As much as I love binge watching horror films in OCtober, I'm usually burned out by the end of the month (hung over, if you will). And it doesnt help matters the "Suspiria" remake comes out on Nov. 2nd.

No room for "Edison" Frankenstein (1910)?

So do I, but October is the only time I force myself to watch an insane amount of nothing but horror.
