I'm into it. They're fun, easy, and affordable. I'm not a big gamer, so the nostalgia is the biggest factor. New systems and games are way too complicated for me.

I was inspired by a podcast to focus on anthologies this year. It made me realize how many I had that I either hadn't seen at all, or hadn't seen in so long that I'd virtually forgotten about. I thought I would also supplement that with television episodes so I can make my way through the Outer Limits and Alfred Hitchcock Presents sets that have been sitting on my shelf for a while. I've also been wanting to revisit the Masters of Horror collections that I have. So between all those options, we'll see if there's enough there to fill my entire October.

I'm PS4 only. Battlefront (the first one, not II) is my vice of choice.

I've got a list of 30 films for the Psychotronic challenge. I'm stuck on one day, and even though I can name 3-4 films that would satisfy the requirement, none of them are in my collection...

Friday the 13th - Jason goes to Hell (1993)
I was not expecting much and I actually liked it. I'm a fan of the series and I like to watch at least one during the season. Last year I watched Jason Takes Manhattan, which I did not like as much as this one. After 8 of these movies, it was time to try some radically different ideas. Also, I thought the characters were better than most of the other films; I found myself actually rooting for them. It was cool to see Erin Gray (remember her in the Buck Rogers TV show) and the Bounty Hunter (Steven Williams, Rufus from Supernatural). Definitely not your typical Friday movie, but a fun one to watch.

    Goosebumps II: Haunted Halloween (2018)
Watched the first one last year with my wife . Not quite as good as the first one, but still very entertaining. We went to Home Depot the next day and strolled through the Halloween decorations and a lot of them were the same ones they brought to life in the movie ! Enjoyed seeing Ken Jeong make an appearance. Fun light Halloween flick.

Puppet Master: Axis of Evil (2010)
Another series I like. I love the puppets even though many of the movies are bad. This one is forgettable and really just a setup for the next 2 movies. Not one I would watch again.

    Puppet Master: Axis Rising (2012)
Continuation from Axis of Evil except with all new actors. These 2 movies should have been combined into one as they were both slow and drawn out. In this one there is a sexy German blond bombshell and a team of new "bad" puppets to take on the puppets from the previous films. Loved the new puppets and the puppet on puppet action.

    Saturday the 14th (1981)
Comedy Horror Spoof about a family moving into a creepy run down house. The son happens to release a horde of monsters. Jeffrey Tambor is great in this.

Saturday the 14th Strikes Back (1988)
Almost did not watch because the reviews were so bad, but I am not one to shy away from bad movies this time of year, so I gave it shot. This was actually watchable for me and my wife. My wife is typically the first to give up on a bad movie. We had fun trying to catch all the bad jokes. It was worth it just for the vampires diet song and dance routine.

When Good Ghouls Go Bad (2001)
Family/Kids movie with story by R.L. Stine. The first hour was a drag and annoying at times. We only kept watching because we like Christopher Lloyd. The last 30 minutes were actually good and had some fun moments that made it worthwhile.

Howard Lovecraft and the Frozen Kingdom (2016)
Did not like the animation for this. It was like watching a video game. Very slow to start and I fell asleep on and off throughout. Had a few cute moments, but I don't think we'll be watching any of the sequels

    House on Sorority Row (1983)
Decent early 80's slasher with an interesting story, made me think of "I know what you did last summer" a little bit. Group of girls pull a prank that goes bad, try to cover it up and it comes back to haunt them or in this case kill them. Suspenseful and the ending is good.

    The Slumber Party Massacre (1982)
Basic 80s Slasher with extra nudity. Escaped murderer kills teens. Nothing interesting or memorable.

    Day of the Dead (1985)
Classic Zombie Flick. The gore and special effects work by Tom Savini are so impressive. Dawn is still my favorite in the trilogy.

    Demons (1985)
When the opening credits came up and I saw the band list for the music, I knew I was in for a treat; Motley Crue, Billy Idol, Saxon, Accept to name a few. This movie rocked, what a blast ! Loved the concept/story, some crazy gore/special effects, frenetic pacing at times, great visuals, camera work and lighting. This movie was a fun thrill ride !

    The Haunted Palace (1963)
Vincent Price and Lon Chaney Jr. in a story loosely based on a Lovecraft story with elements from an Edgar Allen Poe poem. Gothic, atmospheric and Entertaining.

    The Mummy (2017)

Have to admit I did not know this movie existed until we watched it. Had low expectations going in and it wasn't awful. It was watchable and actually entertaining. Just have to accept it for what it is. Tom Cruise fighting CGI Undead to try to escape a Mummy's Curse , oh and Russell Crowe makes an appearance as Dr. Jeckyll.

    Horror Express (1972)
Really enjoyed this one. Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, even Telly Savalas. Frozen Creature found in China and transported by train, thaws, escapes, causing mayhem, murder, and mystery. Great cast and story. Kind of reminded me of "the thing" except on a train.

    Freddy's Dead (19991)
Another franchise I like and try to watch one every year. My least favorite of the sequels so far, but still fun. Love the opening dream sequence in the plane and the house falling out of the sky. The dream sequences in this one get real far out with stoners and video games.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
I knew going in that there was no Michael Meyers in it, but I was still expecting it to be better than it was. It was an entertaining watch and had a couple of neat old school practical effects.

Oh yeah, that time of year. I wanna roll, but still a few hours before I usually start. Discipline! I'll report in tomorrow with Day 1.

    Happy watching all!

So all day I was planning on watching my usual movie to start off October but when I got home I decided to change it up and watch a different movie and break with tradition....after about ten minutes of staring at my collection and not being able to decide, I went back to tradition:

    Nothing too crazy tonight:

    Maniac (1980)

I prefer the similarly themed but much better executed Don’t Go in the House, but Spinell is great in this.

Started off early morning in the uk, got a couple in before breakfast

    1: The Hills have Eyes 2 (1985)
Opened up my new Arrow Blu Ray not expecting to really enjoy this as i had not seen this for about 20 years and remember not enjoying it the last time i watched it .Not as good as the first but if you just switch off and go in with low expectations there is plenty to enjoy including likeable characters and a great score by Harry Manfredini that would not have been out of place in a Friday The 13th Movie , despite the many flaws to the film including the dog having a flashback and how the cannibal character Ruby from the first film is now a Businesswoman i enjoyed my first watch of October. 3.5/5

2.The Creature From The Black Lagoon. (1954)

Finally got round to opening the Black Lagoon Legacy boxset that came out in the uk a good few months ago.
The Universal Monster's films are my earliest memorys of Horror films from my childhood, being allowed to stay up late on Friday and Saturday nights with my dad to watch these or the hammer films which were a staple of late night tv in the mid to late 70s, so these old black and white films will always hold a special place in my heart.
Elevated above a lot of similar man in a rubber suit monster films that came out in the years after this with excellent direction , great music , chilling underwater scenes and the birth of a new iconic monster in the Gill man. Its just a shame that Gill man is not held up to the lofty heights achieved by Dracula and Frankenstein. 4.5/5

I did. The transfer on the new Blu really is top notch. Spinell’s performance makes it a pretty tough watch, it’s just so bleak and ugly. But he’s great and the effects (Savini) hold up well.

Yes. I have a lot of nostalgia for it but I still think it's a werewolf movie people should see.
