Dementia is fairly interesting with shades of Vertigo through out it. I only watched The She-Creature of the Arkoff DVD, made for a strangely good double feature. Oddly She-Creature reminded me a lot of Eraserhead. Maybe I'm reading to much into them?

I did a Carpenter double feature last night, Prince of Darkness and Body Bags. Love the atmosphere that Darkness oozes, and I never realized the first time I watched it that Alice Cooper is one of the crazy homeless guys. He is pretty creepy looking . Body Bags is just a fun movie!

With the VP debate and a cool episode of Supernatural on afterwards, I failed to watch a film last night. Couldn't stay up any later. Tonight I have a dinner with some friends, but afterwards I may be able to sneak one in before I collapse into bed.

Saturday, though--oh Saturday will be epic!

Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat - I enjoyed the hell out of this quirky vampire/western concoction. With this kind of cast, I'm surprised that this film flew below my radar for so long. I was pleasantly surprised to see that even Buck Flower and Dana Ashbrook show up. It's a charming movie, and Deborah Foreman is another actress I greatly miss.

Alien Predator - or The Falling if you prefer. Two guys and a girl are on vacation in Spain. On their way to Madrid, they run across the small town of Duarte, where a Skylab fell four years prior. Unfortunately, microbes from the station didn't burn up upon reentry as originally assumed. The townspeople are being infected by the alien microbes, turning into deranged, beer-throwing hosts for alien predators. Fun film is a bit slower going than you'd expect, spending time on the characters' love triangle. Highlights? We briefly meet a family including a guy who sounds like a Three Stooges reject. There's a groovy scene with a masked nut and a big truck that tends to teleport. There's also a smartass bearded dude who's awesome and isn't in the film nearly as long as he should be. You don't see much of the creatures themselves, but when they appear, the effects are good. Think the chestburster from Alien with spider legs.

Night Of The Living Dead (1990)
Dawn Of The Dead (2005) unrated
    Land Of The Dead unrated

This triple feature worked out quite well. NOTLD '90 is still one the the best remakes out there.

I fully agree with you there. For the most part I hate remakes, but seriously NOTLD '90 is a great film. A funny zombie romp that everyone can get into. Maybe I'll plug this one in myself this evening, I'm planning to have some company over an I think this would go over well.

Watched Cemetery of Terror today and then followed it up with Monster Squad. Subconciously I have a "little kids getting mixed up with bad guys" horror theme going on, I guess.

I also agree that NOTLD '90 is one of the best remakes ever. And that film probably has some of the best zombies on film.

Fun horror/comedy. Hot babes, hot bodies, and some awesome chainsaw kills.

And while it may not be a movie, it definitely fits with the this thread, but I went to Alice Cooper live in concert last night. It was fucking awesome.

Doesn't look like the Willies was too good. I was going to order it from Amazon... not too sure now.

    10/3. The Wizard of Gore-2007: ***
Remake of the H. G. Lewis flick, would've been better if they had put a better plot around Crispin's awesome performace as Montag the Magnificent.

And Jeffrey Combs isn't even recognizable in his role.

    10/3. The Giant Claw-1957: ****
Kick-ass movie about a giant ugly bird terrorizing the countryside, lots of people get eating and lots of cars and trains and shit get picked up and blown up by the bird.

    10/3. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein-1948: ***1/2
I actually liked this more the second time seeing it, still love the Vincent Price cameo at the end the most though.
