    Lemora

My review for Lemora (viewed on 10/3) is up over at my blog, and I think you guys should make some room in your marathons for it. Not truly scary, but a layered and surprising film.

    Chainsaw Sally (2002)

Terrible acting, parts of other movies blatantly ripped off (or maybe it's a homage? maybe it is at that), and a whole bunch of throwaway scenes...but somehow I had fun watching it. Decent cheese fest with cameos by Gunnar Hansen and Herschell Gordon Lewis.

    Captive Wild Woman

I was short on time and needed to fit in a horror movie, so I reached for my new Universal Horror Classic Movie Archive for this quickie. It wasn't the best movie ever, but Universal horror is always pleasing to me so I was happy.

Now, I am off to practive me captive wild woman stare. You never know when that might come in handy.

Masters of Horror: Homecoming (Joe Dante)

Yeah, there's subtext, and then there's a film like this. Don't know if the intent want to be so over-the-top as to actually be a pro-war film, or if I was really expected to take all the heavy-handedness for what it was: a tired rant that I've heard many times before and seen livelier elsewhere.

Not scary, and it didn't make me think, which is what it seemed to try so hard to do. Boo.

Just watched Grim Reaper last night. I found this at Gamestop for $2 so I decided to give it a try despite knowing it's probably DTV crap.
Unlike most DTV's, I was pleasntly surprised to watch a very low budget, but highly competent and engaging film. I thought I had it figured out 10 minutes in but the twist wasn't what I had called. In fact it was probably more out of the realm of possibilty and in many ways didn't make sense, but I went with it and kept on enjoying it.
I figured I'd watch this once then throw it on the trading list with Motor Home Massacre which I also got at GS for $2. After watching it I think I'll hold onto it. For DTV I'll give it a recomendation as it's much better than most Lionsgate cheap offerings. This is my thrid time watching a film by the director (Michael Feifer). The first was Saw ripoff "Are You Scared" which was just O.K. Then "A Dead Calling" which I didn't care much for although it was watchable. Maybe Feifer is the DTV savior. So far he's doing better than other DTV directors in my book and I'll give his next offering a try on his name alone.

I can't believe I've never seen this. The Swarm is fun and very very long. 156 minutes :eek1:

I need to revisit this again. Maybe it's the running time that scares me...

Anyway, I like this movie a lot. Great all-star cast in this nature run amok picture.

    The Uninvited (1944)

Thanks to TCM for delivering a nice copy of this classic haunted house movie, as my VHS was in horrible shape. I just really hope a great DVD release comes soon. I really seem to love this movie more each time I see it.
