Anyone hearing anything about this?
This looks cool and we even get some boobies to boot.
Well, that's at least a couple of reasons to see the film.
Yep, really interested in this one.
Looks pretty creepy.
Just watched it. Really great creepy flick.
I enjoyed it alot, an effective chiller, definitely worth a viewing.
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016, Andre Ovredal)
In this low budget, single location film Brian Cox (Manhunter) and Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild) play father and son coroners who receive a mysterious homicide victim with no apparent cause of death. As they attempt to identify the beautiful young "Jane Doe," they end up with more than they bargained for, chaos ensues. The first half is really good with palpable tension, good performances and intriguing set ups but the 2nd half feels like a more generic throw away horror and squanders the potential.
Loved it! Very creepy to watch alone. Good stuff.
Yeah, Great atmosphere and very, very creepy indeed.
The characters was likable, and you really don't want any of this shit happening to them.
I kinda knew when a jump scare was coming up, but the timing was unexpected, so they still got me most of the time.
It didn't feel gimmicky as in most modern horror movies.
No annoying shaky cam, just old-school and beautiful cinematography, and with a soundmix that delivered one hell of a punch.
This is one of the better horror movies that I have seen lately.
I loved the director's (André Øvredal) "Troll Hunter" (2010), and this was his first feature length movie since then.
Hope to see more from him in the near future
I will definitely be picking this up when released. Great review bud. Thanks for posting.
I don't buy many movies these days.
But this will definitely go into my collection.
This was pretty damn good! First half was top notch and ultra tense waiting for things to take off. The second half was a great creepy horror film. The performances of Cox and Hirsch were excellent and the script was tight for direct-to movie. I would say this is as close to a don't miss for the past year as there was.
It's playing this week at my local micro-cinema. Hmmm.
Positive review for the bluray:
The bluray DVD combo pack is exclusive to Walmart stores until June 27 but is in stores now for 12.96 I got mine
Late to seeing this film. I really enjoyed it. Easily one of my favorite horror films of last couple of years. I went into the movie cold, didn't even see the trailer and what a nice surprise it turned out to be. What I really, really liked was that for the first time in a long time we got coroners/medical examiners that didn't act Hollywood. No eating while looking at bodies, no joking around or lewd talking, etc... They acted professional which added to the realism to the whole story. Trust me if another director or if this was another time the son would have been the" goof off". Instead here we had a father son team that took their job seriously.
My only complaint or question.
How they handled the cat. I questioned the swift actions. Figure they would take it back to the examination room to check it out
I was thinking, would anyone want a sequel? Myself I would only be in for a sequel if it was the same director or if he was the executive producer. Interesting, I heard Martin Sheen had to bow out of the film because of scheduling conflicts.
So a call to him for the sequel could really work. Considering the role he was going to play and the way the film wraps up
Please use spoilers tags for the sake of people that haven't seen the movie yet in explaining on why or why not for a sequel.
Having viewed the trailer online, I picked this up at the local Wal-Mart last night, and wow, it was truly an excellent movie! Definitely the best new horror film that I've seen in quite a while, and also definitely the best blind buy so far this year. Creepy and visually disturbing. I loved Troll Hunter, and the director handles an English-language film just as well... it will be interesting to see what he does next.
Alright baggio and Kat, I ordered the blu-ray based on your recommendations. I'll post my thoughts after I watch it.
