    hey all,

Do any of you know if the Burning DVD offered here:

    http://www.blackstar.co.uk/video/item/7000000059328

works on Region 1 players? It says "All Regions" on the back of the box, but the info on the page also says "Region 2 versatile", which I wasn't familiar with.

Any word on whether this will be relesaed in the States? MGM aparent;y was "considering" it for 2002, according to an old report on this site. Any news o n that?

Finally, was this a widescreen film? Doesn't appear as if this version is. also, is it uncut? Thanks!

Avoid this DVD like the plague...

...it's the cut Vipco (spit!) version.

If you can't wait for the MGM DVD (who knows when this will be released? I don't think MGM know themselves....), then there's the rather average Dragon release.

There's a review of this DVD over at SGM...

Personally, I'm waiting for the definitive MGM release. I don't think they'll let us down (fingers crossed).

I've heard several reports from various sites that this was more or less confirmed for a 2002 fall release. I think this along with Motel Hell and others will make up MGM's Halloween schedule. At least it probably will be uncut since MGM's "exclusive Amazon VHS" of the title was.

You will probably be better off waiting for the MGM dvd release of THE BURNING....because after seeing the incredible VHS version (the Amazon exclusive..still available cheap, btw) that MGM put out, it's hard to imagine a better quality uncut print out there of THE BURNING..........

Wasn't the original Amazon VHS uncut...

...and it was then withdrawn and replaced with a censored, theatrical release?

I remember discussions about this some time ago. What's the full story behind this release?

Is the version that plays from time to time on Showtime the uncut print? It's on tonight and I was planning on taping it.

The Amazon VHS Exclusive release of THE BURNING from MGM video was released uncut and is still being released uncut.......in fact, if you read their own editorial reviews, the Amazon reviewer even explains the added footage.

    The Burning (uncut) rocks!

I finally caught the uncut version of "The Burning" the other night on Showtime. Damn - what a difference a few seconds make! Savini's effects were friggin' awsome! Throw in some hot chicks dresed for summer camp, some nudity from some of said chicks, and Jason Alexander with hair and it adds up to a slasher classic! I can't wait for the DVD.
