Coming out in April. $14.98 SRP

Brotherhood of Satan has previously been released on a Blu-ray double-feature by Mill Creek, but The Creeping Flesh and Torture Garden will be new to Blu-ray.

I like all three films but do you think Mill Creek will do a good job with these?

Mill Creek's last few Sony catalog Blu-ray releases have utilized subpar MPEG-2 codecs. They no longer use lossless audio, but just Dolby Digital with a slight bit-rate increase.

Hopefully this will at least be a BD-50 disc and use AVC codecs. I would expect the films to be bare-bones as far as any bonus features go, probably not even any trailers like their recent Sony Blu-rays have been.

So no, I doubt they will do a truly "good" job, but probably a passable job. Mill Creek's early Sony Blu-rays were actually really good quality for budget releases... but they have sadly devolved since then.

I guess the price is right though, this will be $10 or under from most retailers.

Figures, I just bought the Mr. Sardonicus / Brotherhood of Satan double feature because I was worried it would be discontinued.

    You're welcome.

As long as they use a BD-50, it probably won't be too bad. They just use lossy audio, so as long as they use the AVC codec for the films it shouldn't be much of a factor.

However... if they go with the antiquated MPEG-2 codec route like their past few Blu releases, that is troublesome.

4hrs and 37min on one disc is really pushing it, even if it's a 50gb disc.
So expect some compression issues to pop up.

Though for such a low price, it should still be worth picking up.

They probably just have lossy audio for the movies like most recent Mill Creek releases have, so I doubt it will matter too much as long as they used a solid AVC encode. If they used MPEG-2 encodes like they sometimes have recently, then yeah there will probably be compression issues.

Criterion put Fanny & Alexander on a BD-50 for instance, and that was almost 5 and a half hours with lossless audio.

Blu-ray.com review is up with screenshots: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Psycho-Circus-Blu-ray/172998/#Review

Unfortunately it looks like they did use an MPEG-2 encode on the disc. What is this, 1997?

That's just stupid, especially since The Brotherhood of Satan has already been released by them before on Blu-ray with an AVC encode.

At least there's a little bit-rate bump on the lossy audio tracks.

For that price I had to pre-order as well. Even if the quality isn't good it was only a $7.30 gamble after tax.

Torture Garden is coming to Blu-ray in Australia on a separate release from Via Vision. Maybe the quality will be better? Not familiar with this label at all.

I came pretty close to buying the Australian import of Torture Garden. So glad that I didn't. This release from Indicator is sure to be the best one yet!
