After all the rumors, the whispering in the dark, the hushed silence comes some shocking news. Criterion will be releasing Equinox.

Originally a student film made between 1965 and 1967 titled 'The Equinox: A Journey Into the Supernatural' with visual effects and direction by Dennis Muren, now the Senior Visual Effects Supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic; it was sold and re-edited with new footage shot by Jack Woods and more visual effects by Dennis Muren and released in 1970.

Its stardom came from TV broadcasts in the mid-seventies and still airs today.

I own both cuts of the movie and it is really a treat to behold, I can't wait for this release.

Thanks for the news, X-human! Those Criterion rumours have been floating around for a few years now, it seemed too weird to be true. I've been waiting for this one a long time, check out an old post of mine. And that cover art freaking rules.

That cover art is amazing. Haven't seen the film, but it looks interesting.

I'd buy this for the cover art alone. And anything that Muren has done is already awesome in my book. I'll be blind buying this one for sure.

    The original Evil Dead :)
And if it's got both cuts of the movie and lots of bonus footage with Frank Bonner I'll be creaming!

I have a copy of this movie. I couldn't get past the first ten minutes. I'm surprised it's going to get the Criterion treatment as it's more Something Weird level.

Wow... I can't believe that this is actually getting released in a few weeks! I really can't wait, especially since all those years of rumours. Best of all is that both versions of the movie are included... awesome!

I can't believe that a movie originally released on VHS by Wizard Video is getting the Criterion treatment.

I'll definitely check this out. :)
