This looks like a truly excellent release. The included booklet was a great read earlier.

I got mine in the mail from Amazon yesterday and was wondering, from those of you who have already viewed your discs, which version to watch first. The original cut, then the theatrical? Or the other way around? I've not seen this one before.

Take off to the Great White North, eh?
I watched the original `67 version first, then the `70 cut a few days later. I recommend viewing them in that order too.

This is one of my favourite DVDs in my collection. I freaking love it. I can't believe this little monster movie was given this much love and devotion. Thank you Criterion!

That damned discount causes me to spend too much money, too. It's not ALL GOOD. Haha.

Weird. I pre-ordered from dvdempire, and it's out of stock.
I've never had that happen with a Criterion release.

I agree. Although I liked the movie enough to want a copy in my collection, I was never really all that hot on it, and thought it was kind of lame when I last saw it (I had only seen it twice in my life, last time was about 15 years ago, I think)...

Anyway, I watched the original cut first, and I must say that I was really impressed with it. It made all the difference in the world for me, and now I have a completely different view on the movie.

If you're already a confirmed fan of the film, it probably won't matter too much, but I"d still say, watch the original cut because in a lot of ways, it will almost be like watching a completely different movie.
