German blu-ray / DVD has been delayed from November to February 5th, 2015.
Uggggh. Just release this shit already. Sounds like Mandy Lane all over again. What will end up happening is this will just end up hitting dvd/blu in every other country before getting pirated here in America, where it'll probably be dumped to VOD, thus not making it the hit in theaters that Eli Roth hopes it'll be. He's mentioned on twitter several times that this WILL be receiving a huge theatrical release here, but at this point it just has VOD written all over it. Personally I don't care how it comes out, I just wanna see the damn film already! Although, not gonna lie, it would be awesome to see a jungle cannibal flick on the big screen...
German blu-ray is still slated for February 5th via Amazon.de. Think it'll make the date?
This film is going to suffer the same fate as Mandy Lane: by the time it gets released, no one will care anymore.
The early buzz seems to have died down already.
I've never preordered a German blu-ray. I'll order this at some point over the summer if there is no U.S. release date by then.
According to this site http://www.emp.de/art_274182/ the German Blu-ray release is now 05/28/15
I actually had high hopes for this but I guess it will never see the light day in the U.S. Too bad. Despite the luke warm reaction, it sounded like a good film.
Somebody, anywhere release it now for fuck sake this is a joke. Here in the UK it got a BBFC certificate last June but no release. This is really a fucking joke!
Some news has come out of Sundance from Roth himself (he is there promoting his newest film "Knock, Knock") saying the following:
Why does Roth keep making movies that no one will see? Not talking quality-wise, they just don't get distribution. Aftershock played in one artsy fartsy theater in NYC for about a week then went to video. Or maybe his movies really do suck
This is gonna be another Mandy Lane. The release (whether it's theatrical or home video) will be delayed and delayed, and eventually it will never live up to the expectations or the hoops we have to jump through in order to finally see it.
German Blu has been pushed back till 31st Dec.....lol, what a crock!
That sucks, at least with Mandy Lane it was released somewhere in the world. This is never gonna see the light of day, it's in a vault next to 'the day the clown cried'. LOL.
I read about this not coming out when the Knock Knock trailer was released. I find it odd when companies hold on to movies like this. Surely someone wants to release a finished movie?
Not if the Weinsteins get their grubby hands on them
The way I look at it, even if a movie is terrible at least you'll get some money back.
Not necessarily. There's distribution costs, promotion and advertising. Even if it's a small run, if those costs > potential ticket sales, you're losing more money.
Always keep in mind that studios are not in the business of making art, they're in the business of making money.
^ And on top of that, how do you market a jungle cannibal film to mainstream audiences?
That is actually quite an easy part. "From the acclaimed director of Cabin Fever and Hostel comes a new definition of terror... - GREEN INFERNO!" $):evil::glasses:
True. But they should know the audience before even making the movie. Or at least have a feel for how they will sell the movie.
That's how I would imagine it too. Add in a hot sweaty girl in the jungle and that should do it.
The film will arrive in theaters 09/25/15.
