The credits zinger was a bit unnecessary but I see it for what it is, a hasty, shitty setup for a sequel. I agree with a previous comment that the short dream sequence probably should have been cut. However, the ending as in "the main ending" is pretty much the same setup as another genre movie this is inspired by. If you consider one shitty you probably consider the other equally shitty, which is a perfectly valid opinion to have, as I didn't think its ending was any better or worse than it was in that movie.

If you liked Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox, etc then I think this is a perfectly serviceable entry to them minus some unobtainable late 70's era grit. It's a cannibal movie so I didn't expect to be intellectually stimulated or have an epiphany on human relations while watching it.

I can't imagine a sequel was ever even considered. The hell it took to get released accompanied by a negative overall reception certainly seals that.

Before the delay a sequel, titled "Beyond the Green Inferno", was in development with Roth producing and Nicholas Lopez directing.

    Most likely canceled.

Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up. I thought it was fine for what it was, but it certainly didn't need a sequel.

    Cannibal Ferox, I'm assuming.

God, it's been forever since I've seen that as I don't remember the ending at all. Thank you :)

I enjoyed this and thought it was good fun, even if Aaron Burns' mid-point 'highlight' was a little over the top. I thought it paid homage to Ferox and Hoocaust very nicely.

Finally saw this tonight. Had been avoiding it because I'm lukewarm on the "classic" cannibal flicks and Eli Roth is a bit hit or miss for me. But was pleasantly surprised, not nearly as gory as some of the reviews make it out to be. And the characters were only mildly annoying, at least compared to some of Roth's earlier films. Definitely worth a rental.

A sequel is apparently on the cards. But I thought the tacked on ending of the first was poo. I think I'll avoid unless Roth is back.

I like the 2nd Hostel to the first so you never know..
