    The Host - UK Theatrical Trailer

    It's pretty cool that optimum releasing are giving both this and Pan's Labyrinth UK theatrical releases and both before the US gets them. The Jaws style poster for the UK release of The Host is pretty cool to.

    The movie hasnt even hit DVD yet and its already being remade;

    Another big announcement from the AFM is that the remake rights to Korean helmer Bong Joon-ho's smash hit creature feature "The Host" have been sold. Universal were the eventual winners in the apparently heated battle, with Roy Lee and Doug Davidson's Vertigo Entertainment, along with Gold Circle producing. No word yet as to possible directors or cast, but the project will probably attract major talent and a good sized budget. Meanwhile, the film is set to hit UK cinemas November 10th, and is due to be released on DVD in Hong Kong and Korea at the beginning and end of December respectively.

    okay, now the remake trend is getting truely rediculous when its rights to be remade are snatched up before it even goes on DVD.

    dvdfromkorea.com have the 1-disc rental edition for pre-order now. their tentative date for the korean 2-disc / special edition is mid-december. i would say plump for that over any earlier HK disc for the sake of avoiding the risk - as shown with the 'lady vengeance' debacle last year...

    ...waiting for a big screen viewing first.

    Friend of mine just saw it, who does NOT like horror movies, and she loved it.

    Yeah, I'm gonna wait and hopefully catch it on the big screen first as well.
    Looks like a good one.

    It's scheduled to show at a local theater here next month, but I've heard Magnolia is gonna delay it till spring now.

    Even if I did buy the DVD (which I'm sure I will), there's NO WAY I'd watch it on video before seeing it on the big screen.

    I'm hoping we get it in January...if not, I wait till March

    Again, I want to reiterate....a friend of mine who HATES horror movies absolutely loved it. It's that good.

    Finally got to see it last week. Was a fine film, although not as good as Memories of Murder, and the strangely comedic elements took me aback a bit, but otherwise, a great monster film with way more going for it than most when it comes to underlying themes.

    I think it's funny though this is already been picked up for a US remake...I'm sure many things will be sucked right out of it, considering how this portrays us yanks :lol:
