Nice! On my list of ones to buy for sure.
bumpin to merge threads, please.
And here's my take on it, from the October 2014 Viewing Thread. This film is all over the place on this forum .
Masterbation with no ejaculation. Some really cool creepy scenes and characters, but I felt like our cast was a bunch of wimps constantly being pushed around and surrendering to haunted house folk. They're constantly like "wtf, this is crazy, I'm scared, Wah, let's get the fuck out of here", but they persist for no reason. Very discombobulated movie. And the ending is indeed atrocious. Cmon, after all those cool characters and build up? Felt like a cop out.
I agree...the ending was such a let down...it ruined it.
I bought this for the documentary which is great. As far as I'm concerned, the movie is a bonus feature.
Streaming on Netflix now
This is available on Amazon if you are a Prime member for $9.99.
Just blind bought this at Best Buy for $9.99. Looks good. It will now go into my huge stack of sealed, yet to be watched blu rays.
A sequel is coming soon.
I was just reading about this sequel news yesterday. I have to revist the first soon. I saw it once and didn't think too highly of it.....but a good friend of mine is absolutely in love with this film and I keep telling him ill give it another chance. But either way I'm all about a sequel.
I just saw this film for the first time last year. Didn't love it overall, but have a great interest in the theme of the film. While on road trips & vacations, my wife & I often look for spooky landmarks or haunted places. Of course we take a lot more precautions than these characters did. I really would have preferred though that this was not a found footage film. I'm certain the sequel will be found footage style as well. Plan to check it out though.
Definitely. I recently saw a similar flick called Hell House LLC which I thought was superior. But like I said, I need to revisit House. I'll probably wait for October though.
Netflix appears to have the first one for streaming - so I may have to finally check this out
Hell House LLC is streaming on Amazon Prime and looks good.
I just finished this one and it was great! Very believable and full of tension. Pretty much all of the characters were likable and the pacing was good, which I always find to be the downfall of found footage films. I liked this far more than Houses October Built and actually found it creepy/scary.
I watched Hell House LLC last weekend on Amazon Prime. The characters overall were less annoying than the cast from The Houses That October Built. What worked best for me was the location. Hell House LLC utilized a really spooky former hotel that very effectively provides a haunted atmosphere. Thanks to those of you for alerting me to this film & streaming availability.
New trailer for The Houses That October Built 2: http://zombiesdontrun.net/news/new-trailer-houses-october-built-2/
Consider it another flick added to the October viewing lineup.
Doesn't look all that different from the first film, but this sequel definitely has my interest. It helps that I enjoyed the first film overall.
