I was one who thought it might be too much to handle but i had no trouble watching this. Aside from the concept, it's actually very tame for a horror film. The doctor is creepy as hell and the two girls' acting gets better as the film goes on (it's very bad in the early scenes.) There are plot holes but it was certainly more memorable than the "Nightmare on Elm Street" remake.

Not to be crude but the biggest flaw in the execution is that the girls' faces were really nowhere near the anuses of the person in front of them. No one's butthole is at the top of the butt crack.

Howard Stern was talking about this movie yesterday morning and was totally appauled by the premise - laughingly of course. Someone sent him a copy and he says he can't bring himself to watch it. It was funny hearing him explain what the movie was about and Robin was all like "wtf - that's not real."

For the people that saw this in the cinema, can you tell me if it was shown through a computer? I saw it tonight and didnt see any light from the projectionist booth and there was a windows desktop screen on from the begining of the film to about the 2 minute mark.I sort of felt robbed seeing a "dvd" or "avi" of a movie but if thats how it was made then, I guess thats how it has to be.

Human Centipede and More on DVD
Source: IFC Films June 29, 2010

The film that had audiences talking, The Human Centipede, is coming to DVD and Blu-ray on October 5.

IFC made the announcement and also revealed DVD plans for some of their other titles. Look for The Tormented on August 31, Coffin Rock and Doghouse on October 12 and Mutants anf Hush on October 26.

i'll be getting doghouse and human centipede but kind surprised the Horde another french zombie film isn't included with this lineup

Tormented and Hush aired on IFC recently.

Tormented was total garbage, really terrible film.

Hush was entertaining, I enjoyed it. It is basically just a remake of Joy Ride or The Hitcher though.

I thought it was weirder that he cut the flaps backwards. When he cut them, they lifted up to meet in the center, when they should have opened out to make room for the head to fit in.

Overall though, not a bad movie. It was campier (in a good way) than I expected, and the ending was satisfying (yes, I am depraved) :)

Undoubtedly there was some medical reason for the flaps being how they were....

I enjoyed this, although I agree it doesn't have a lot of repeat value. It's got the whole exploitation vibe of the hype around the movie being more than the movie itself. But it's not a bad movie. Seems to be kind of a goof on Germany.

The girls' acting got better when
they ceased to have any dialogue after the operation.

The director is funny, he gets all animated talking about the sequel, and he seems as obsessed about making movies about human centipedes as Dr. Heider is about creating them! The whole motivation behind the movie seems like something twelve-year old boys would come up with.

Heider seems like a cross between Udo Kier and Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory....

If anyone is interested, Target has the blu-ray for $14.99.

Not a bad price for a new release blu-ray.

Maybe, or maybe it didn't get communicated to the special effects guys and then no one noticed. It didn't detract from my enjoyment of the film, but either his skin was inside out on her face or there was a twist somehow.

I have to echo the comments about it being kind of a letdown. Admittedly, I had no previous knowledge of what I was going into because I prefer to experience films in that way (I just skim reviews for positive words/phrases). Yes, the Doc was flippin' awesome and the scenes with
the police and the escape attempt were suspensful and harrowing
but I felt underwhelmed by the experience as a whole (pun intended).

Not surprisingly, I've yet to see the first Human Centipede Halloween costume thus far this year.
