The movie was shot flat, so the fullscreen version is open-matte. You won't be missing any picture information by it not being ltbx -- you'll actually be seeing *more* picture information...

I have the previously released Troma DVD with the title FANATIC.
Does anyone know the difference between that disc, and the new supposedly "uncut" version recently released by Troma? I'd love to know before re-buying it. thanks!

Damn Troma and their special edition re-releases! At least I don't already have Combat Shock so I won't have to double dip when I purchase that special edition.

I picked up the 88Films blu-ray recently, and it's a great release. Worth mentioning, it's completely region free, so it will play on any blu-ray player. The extras are even all encoded in HD, so there's no issues with PAL compatibility either.

The movie looks great in hi-def, although there are two brief gore scenes inserted that come from a noticeably inferior source (one a movie within a movie involving a homeless woman, the other a shot near the end involving a chainsaw). All the DVD extras have been ported over, plus there's a new Q&A with Caroline Munro, although she mostly talks about Slaughter High. DVDBeaver did an in-depth comparison if anyone's interested.

Really enjoyed revisiting the film as well, I think I enjoyed it even more this time. The movie's a lot of fun, loved seeing all the movie promos plastered everywhere at Cannes, and I love the goofy little twist ending. Definitely recommended.
