the Coreys! Variety, E!, and the Haim's website confirm..

Yes indeed, in the best ironically named sequel news of the year to date, The Lost Boys - Joel Schumacher’s teenage vampire thriller - has been dusted off 20 years after the original for a sequel.

Unsurprisingly though, it’s probably going straight to DVD.

The original featured Kiefer Sutherland as David, the unlikely named vampire bad guy terrorising a small Californian seaside town. David? It’s hardly Dracula or Nosferatu, is it?

With Kiefer too busy washing his hair or counting his rice or something equally pressing, Empire Online reports that the role has fallen to… Angus Sutherland, Kiefer’s half brother.

Better news for fans of the original. While Jason Patric is unlikely to reprise his role, the Coreys are, reportedly, back!

Yes indeed, Corey Haim is lined up to play Sam, and Corey Feldman is also back - alongside Jamison Newlander - as the vampire-hunting, comic-book obsessives, the Frog Brothers.

The magazine reports that the film is currently called The Lost Boys - The Tribe and will see vampires terrorising a seaside town. Hmm. Sounds familiar…

Kiefer's character died. If Kiefer doesn't want to come back do they really need to revive the character? It makes no sense. Otherwise, great news!

Is Alex Winter reprising his role? What about the "Death by stereo" guy? What about Laddie? These questions need answers! Has Grandpa's weed farm turned a profit yet?

Haha, I wish all of the answers to these questions was yes. I love The Lost Boys and I really hope the sequel is at least a fun entry.

Should be good fun for nostalgiax purposes. The Coreys should milk this. It's their biggest hit and best film...but I would love for them to follow it up with a sequel to License to Drive. Maybe Corey's license was revoked from too many DUIs and his bride-to-be makes him sober up and take the test again with Corey F. as the best bud egging him on. Come on! That's a great idea.

Kiefer's character was impaled by antlers which are not made of wood. He also didn't disintegrate, explode, etc. when he got impaled. I heard that was intentional just in case they ever wanted to make a sequel. Whether that's true or just a continuity error, it does kind of make sense.

Good point, Alan. Didn't think of that. I guess thinking about it a little more, it wouldn't make sense to have Kiefer reprise the role even if he wanted to. Vampires don't age and it would be pretty silly for a man in his 40s to play a teen vamp.

Actually, that already happened on an episode of 'The Two Coreys' ... but, yes, that would make a great movie :D

I always thought so. I thought it was like how only silver bullets could kill werewolves. I could be wrong though. I might have to brush up on my vampire rules.

And technically since the head vampire was killed, wouldn't that have turned David back to normal. I don't think any normal human being could survive being impaled like he did.
