Damn that trailer looked sweet.
There is a lot of violence, but much of the effects were cheaply, and poorly done in after effects, or so it looks. I felt I wasted my time on it, but some people do seem to like it. It really does lower the bar on how little quality one can make a film with nowadays!
I've been looking forward to this for a while...it looks like it could be as fun as something like Meatball Machine. It comes out in June on DVD from Tokyo Shock.
OK, threads merged. I did search first, but I only searched within the Asian Horror sub-forum, and the original thread was in General.
i picked up the DVD way ahead of street date.
The movie is very silly, but the violence is WAAAYY over the top. Don't expect realistic gore, this is completely cartoonish fun.
I enjoyed it, but it's not a classic in my opinion. Worth watching once for sure.
I'm looking forward to Tokyo Gore Police...
Hell yeah...I'm looking forward to The Girls Rebel Force of Competitive Swimmers as well. I love Japan
omg I just saw that trailer for Tokyo Gore Police..that looks like good times
Tokyo Gore Police (promo)
I just picked this up at Wal Mart for $11.99.
ya I got it for 12.99 from amazon. hasn't shipped yet cause I bundled with a couple pre-=orders. should ship today hopefully.
Anyone seen this yet? If so Id like to know what you thought of it and if its worth picking up
Here's a review I did for the flick for those wondering if it's worth your time: http://www.screamindemon.com/2008/05/28/the-machine-girl/
I rented this tonight so I'll be watching it either tonight or early tomorrow.
It is around $11 with DeepDiscount's sale this week. Might get it for that price. I'm going to read some of those reviews you guys posted first!
Like I mentioned, I watched it with a bunch of fellow Asian film fans. The reaction was mostly negative, but me and one other guy really dug it. We're more into the crazy-ass Asian films while the haters were the type to prefer "serious" films. You know from the opening that it ain't gonna be serious.
Other than some bad CGI in the opening scene, it's just a fun gore-filled romp with weapons galore and a super-cute Japanese girl. If you like gallons of blood, over-the-top comedic violence (think Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness), and cute Japanese girls, you'll be more than satisfied.
got this today cant wait to watch it.
I'm going to echo Paff's sentiments on this. In no ways in this a serious movie but it is a whole bunch of fun. Lots and lots of gore/blood in this flick. I found myself groaning slightly at some of the effects as in how unrealistic they looked but it didn't detract from my enjoyment. Check it out!
Anyone know if this truly has a full screen and a widescreen version? deepdiscount.com and dvdplanet.com are selling only the fullscreen version. Couple other sites say it is widescreen. I cant find one site that lists both options which I find strange- So does anyone know if there are truly two versions of this- one widescreen and one fullscreen?
Looking at the trailer to this (my disc is on its way) I'm surprised anyone would mistake it for a serious film. It's clearly a gore comedy.
