I just picked this up yesterday and gave it a spin last night. With all the talk about Criterion & King Kong, i wanted to suggest this one to all.
This is the film that launced Kong and looks to me like it was filmed in the same location. This film is full of tention,Great acting,Great set design. Why this one is not considered a classic horror film is beyond me.So who's with me on this one?

I've been meaning to buy this forever. With the 20% off sale currently on, I reckon it might well be time!

Definitely a great little flick. The disc is pretty cheap too plus with the 20% off it's a must.

The film was indeed shot on the same sets as KING KONG.The classic stories "human hunt" plotline has inspired loads of other films, including HARD TARGET,SURVIVING THE GAME and ESCAPE 2000 just to name a few fairly recent ones.

Great movie, which I've actually only seen the last half hour or so of on television long ago. I've been meaning to pick up the Criterion dvd forever, but I keep putting it on the backburner. Maybe this time (DDD sale).

I didn't even realize there was a Criterion disc of it. Great film and one of my favorite short stories. I believe I read it in English class as well. This story was the first! So many films ripped this premise off. Hard Target with Van Dumb, that crappy film with Ice T and Rutger Hauer, among many others!!

Dude, Shan, you're nuts :p ... Surviving the Game sooo kicks ass. Rutger Hauer alone makes it worthy, and Ice T rocks, fool! Not to forget Gary Busey and F. Murray Abraham. Yes, the movie is cheesy enough, but it's got a good pace, and the actors do a good job of keeping the tension ratched up with their over the top performances.

Classic 'stupid action' flick, I say. :D

Yeah, it's hard for me to hate a film with both Gary Busey AND Rutger Hauer, two of my favorite actors of all time... Aside from their input, the film is sort of a mediocre remake of sorts of THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME. Obviously, if I was to watch one, it would be the classic, but this "updating" is pretty entertaining if watched under the right mindset.

Surviving the Game rocks! I actually prefer it to the original, much more entertaining.
