Region Free even! It's been a long while since I've seen anything from the UK I'm interested in that was region free.

It's also coming from Arrow US, so it's not just a UK release.

It's such a relief to see this finally coming after years of claims that there were no usable film elements extant. Of all the golden age slashers that remain unreleased since the VHS era, The Mutilator and Blood Rage are my two most-wanted. I'm looking forward to crossing these off my wishlist and can't wait to see what else Arrow has in store. There are still a lot of slashers that need to be rescued (The Prey, House Of Death, Home Sweet Home, Terror On Tour, etc.) but this pair of releases helps to hack a significant chunk off of that list.

still coming out 2/16/16 update today

BY SWORD. BY PICK. BY AXE. BYE BYE.

Although the slasher film was in decline by the mid-1980s, there were still some grisly delights to be had – and they don’t come much grislier than writer-director Buddy Cooper’s sickening stalk-and-slash classic The Mutilator!

When Ed receives a message from his father asking him to go and lock up the family’s beach condo for the winter, it seems like the perfect excuse for an alcohol-fueled few days away with his friends. But no sooner are the teens on the island than they find themselves stalked by a figure with an axe (and a hook, and an outboard motor) to grind…

Originally released under the title Fall Break, The Mutilator has earned a reputation amongst horror fans as one of the holy grails of ’80s splatter mayhem due to its decidedly gruesome kill sequences, courtesy of FX wizard Mark Shostrom (Videodrome, Evil Dead II). Finally making its long-awaited bow in High-Definition, The Mutilator has returned to terrorize a whole new generation of horror fans

Still excited about this but the thrill has dissipated just a bit because of the constant delays. I was ready to sit down and enjoy this back in November. Don't really feel in the mood much these days but, like I said, I'm still excited.

What he said. I've been one of the more impatient people about this release but the thrill has increased with this one, especially with them finding a better print for the unrated cut AND all those extras.

    You're nuts Eman.

I've never seen Arrow use DNR on a transfer. Or if they actually have, it's been very light and hasn't hindered the presentation.

Put me in the camp that doesn't mind a touch of DNR. Noisy transfers are just as distracting as excessively DNR'd ones. If it doesn't need DNR then by all means, though, don't use it. I like film grain.
