I was 16 when IT premiered on TV so I was old enough to understand that it really wasn't that great of a mini series. It only aged worse over the years, but this trailer has a Stranger Things vibe that I dig. I'll give it a shot.

Zombie Dude: EVERYONE on the internet thinks they are right. That's kind of what makes the internet the internet. I'm sorry I didn't provide you with the same sort of discussion you wanted to have. But don't waste my time and insult my intelligence by trying to convince me I was being rough or unfair with you. It's ridiculous. The tone of my post was perfectly respectful.

Now, as for this nonsense about me and the trailer: I made myself perfectly clear before. The trailer showed us nothing scary. That was my point. Don't try to claim I argued two things at once because I did not. I could not have been clearer. This is the only trailer we have to go on. If another trailer emerges, I might change my tune. We will see.

"I remember this film very, very well- better than most, I dare say"

    Translation:

I have nothing going on in my life at all so I over analyze every film I watch so I can feel superior to the entire internet. I rule.

I like the look of this. Didn't blow me away but that's what the movie's for right?!.

    Definitely a theatre watch.

The original television adaptation was fine for its time--it imprinted a fear of clowns on a generation of viewers. This was almost entirely due to Tim Curry's exceptional performance. Outside of that key casting, very few aspects of the film reach beyond "made-for-TV" (really, think of all the best scenes in the original, and then think about how many of them do not involve Curry), especially the scenes in the adulthood portion of the narrative, which, when removed from the nostalgia/terror juxtaposition of the childhood narrative, struggle to be as effective.

The original film is one of the few instances where a remake is a good idea. For now, it looks less like a remake and more of a new adaptation of the novel, given that the made-for-TV adaptation dropped many scenes from the source material. Even in this teaser, however, we get a glimpse of (what looks to be) the Black Spot tragedy, a very important piece of the IT mythos that was entirely dropped from the first adaptation. So, in this way, perhaps the idea of 'remaking' IT is easier to stomach. Think of it less as a remake and more as a fresh adaptation. There is plenty in the book to be explored beyond what the first adaptation chose to and not to include. Of course Curry will be missed, but even his performance involved choices of what to and not to include from the book. Perhaps this actor will bring his own 'take' on the character instead of simply remaking Curry's. As to whether or not it will be successful, we will not know until we see it.

    What about the music?

    And the balloons?

And the (was this shot in Canada) overcast look of all the outdoor scenes?

Lol I am honestly perplexed by this...Do we have a reputation of being overcast? I thought that was London...

I've come to understand how truly retarded the MPAA and their standards are.

They're seriously dumbfounding sometimes. "Better not show that red blood in a horror movie trailer"

The 1990 mini was filmed in and around Vancouver, and it rains there a lot! :p

I kind of assume if they're following the book this first part might be about 2 hours. I'm curious to see if they link in the adult part now (like the book) or if they stick strictly to the kids section for this one.
