Got to see the latest trailer before Annabelle 2, and damn does it look glorious on the big screen. You could tell from the audience reaction, that IT creeped them the fuck out
I can't wait for this. I haven't been this pumped for a theatrical horror movie in a long time. I've got this image as my phone wallpaper. Really loving the new look.
Alamo Drafthouse schedules clowns only showing of IT: http://www.avclub.com/alamo-drafthouse-one-ups-wonder-woman-whiners-with-clow-1798392582 Remember kids, if you're ever surrounded by a gang of clowns, don't be scared. Just go for the juggler!
I might be tripping, but figure I'll ask to find out. I swear when this was first announced there was a promo of some sort (can't recall if a trailer or poster, and maybe it was fan-made) that said something along the lines of: I am NOT a remake, I am NOT a reboot But I can't find anything of the sort now despite many searches of google and facebook. Did I really see that, or just dream it? Please provide links if it exists.
Not sure if sarcasm but at least anyone can dress up as a clown here and go. I found the women's only screening of WW a bit of a head shaker honestly. It's not like it was an intended chick flick so exculding men seemed wrong.
I think it was more to play up the girl power aspect of the film. I didn't read too much about it, but I thought it had been a success...?
They were served legal threats, and found out the hard way (when they finally talked with their own lawyer I imagine) that excluding a gender from an establishment is in fact illegal, and as a good will gesture coughed up Wonder Woman DVDs for those infringed. I was originally going to say: "Now who ever sued is an asshole plain and simple," but then looking up a news article just to inform and I found a good article on the person who sued, a gay man who's a law professor and I've very glad he was the one to do it. I don't think it needed to be done, but sometimes we do need the reality check. Because it's also true that what Alamo Drafthouse did was clearly illegal. You can't write gender (or race) neutral laws and then only hold one side of the equation accountable (men only screenings). So yes, when you told men they can't have men only functions that meant women can't have women only functions. Now "clown" can be held to a really low standard (basically non-existent standard) and Alamo Drafthouse is offering face painters at the event. And as long as they let anyone in anyways it's not discrimination.
Wow. I had no idea that that had been the end result. It's a shame, since their intentions were obviously in the right place. But I guess you're right. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
This is also a surprise to me. I knew there was a lot of unhappy people but I didn't think it went this far. Anyway I pre-ordered my tickets to see IT. I can't wait!
Lol! http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/movie-causing-legit-clowns-lose-work-1033435 I always found clowns to be creepy and annoying, so fuck em
Good luck, man.....I hope the fellow theater goers don't ruin it for ya! Always a gamble opening weekend of a flick like this.
Is this a huge problem in theaters in the US? Often read about assholes in the audience over there. Sure it happened once or twice over here as well, but usually people behave over here, no matter if it's a big city, or small town theater. People laugh and/or scream, but never any problems with people talking or messing with the phones. The only time there was a "problem", was during the Evil Dead remake, and a young teen behind me, was terrified as fuck. But that was more hilarious, than annoying I just love the atmosphere in a theater, packed with a scared audience
IT's no laughing matter, so to speak. Not surprisingly, real clowns HATE clown-centric horror films (or just about anything that portrays clowns in a negative light) because it kills their business. That being said, I've been under the impression that clown business never really recovered from the 2008 recession.
Pam Moody (aka Sparky the Firefighter Clown) should pull her head out of the sand, though. IT is just one in a long line of scary / evil / murderous clowns, both fictional and real, dating back at least to late 1800's with La femme de Tabarin by Catulle Mendès or Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo. She should also be more mindful when she says "no one is picking on the Santa Clauses." She couldn't be more wrong and many professional clowns and professional Santas (or Mrs. Clauses, elves, Easter Bunnies, etc.) are one and the same.
Reviews are coming in, with positive initial reactions: http://bloody-disgusting.com/review...greatness-pennywise-becomes-horror-icon-ages/ AV Club gives it a B: http://www.avclub.com/nightmarish-imagery-helps-it-float-above-a-clunky-scrip-1800670625
ahhhhh, I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a HUGE problem. I'm an avid theater goer, always have been and you got to know your area and pick your spots to see certain flicks. I would guess that IT is going to do very well at the box office. Opening weekend nights are going to be packed and then it's risky business. I'm all about them matinees, man. LOL
