    The Nice Guys (2016)
    Directed by Shane Black

In Shane Black's (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) latest comedy noir film he offers up Ryan Gosling (Drive) and Russell Crowe (The Insider) who play a mismatched pair of private eyes who investigate the apparent suicide of a fading porn star in 1970s Los Angeles.

The film is wonderfully made but it is the chemistry of the two leads and some great supporting players that brings the film to life. For those who have seen Shane Blacks previous work, this will be familiar stuff but for my money this is best film to date. Other than a couple of slow patches in the middle, the film is excellently paced and full of great action and laughs.

It is a shame this film did not do better at the box office (not that it was a dud), but i Feel it will go on to not only be a hit on the home format but a classic that people will revisit time and time again.

    8/10

I had a lot of fun with this one also, but at the same time the more I think about it the more it feels slightly like a rehash of Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (which I find the better film) in tone, plot, execution, and even twists. I don't necessarily find that a negative as that's Shane Black's style and I immensely enjoy his writing, witty dialogue, and set-piece construction, but it just felt a little too much like two peas in the same pod. It's also got a bit of a Big Lebowski/Inherent Vice vibe too. Other than that, excellent production design and a lot of homage to '70s culture and cinema, it's funny, action packed, and like you also mentioned, Gosling and Crowe as the "buddy cops" had excellent chemistry. Still worth checking out, it's just not as fresh of an action comedy I'd expected from Shane Black.

I actually found this far superior to kiss kiss bang bang which while I enjoyed I always found a bit of a mess.
Nice guys was everything I wanted inherent vice to be.

I enjoyed this film as well. I took my 20 year old daughter to see it and was kind of surprised when she told me she liked it also.

I thought it was great fun and I enjoyed the retro soundtrack. The stars have great chemistry and the young girl (who is Australian) was very good too.
