When I received my copy, Disc one was floating, some minor scratches on both discs, but viewed both of them, and had no problems. I almost decided to send it back to DVDEmpire, but then I thought "Hm, if I send it back, I might end up still getting a floater, and it might not work at all." So, I decided to keep it.

Joni, do you really think that the colors on the grindhouse is better? On these caps the ultrabit (and old EC) have light blue skys and the grindhouse have brown redish skys. I don't think that ANY sky is brown/redish. On the caps I have seen (haven't got my DVD yet) the Grindhouse look like they have went for a much more warm color timning but I don't really think that correct. Not when the sky i brown/redish.

I remember the Cult Epics Laserdisc also had a kind of yellowish tint for the "found footage"... It was probably a Deodato decision to make it look like the footage spent some time rotting in the jungle... I don't think it's a thing Grindhouse did themselves...

so theres another release coming out as soon as the LE sells out?

  11. I think the only thing that's changing is they'll have different packaging or artwork. But it'll pretty much be the same thing. And it'll have the same extras/content. I got in my Grindhouse dvd today from DDD, and checked out some of the extras on each disc. Seemed to play fine with no probs whatsoever, and no scratches! I got #792

What I don't seem to understand is why is everyone getting angry about the animal violence.

For me, it actually hightens the effect, knowing that those are real deaths on screen, and because of that, I feel envolved with the film and understand it's deep meaning better.

Yes, they could have used FX, but so what, we can't change it.

    Animals get killed everyday.

    Hunting is a plain example.

Also, documentaries do it, and the Mondo movies actually show real human killings, which is far worse than animal killings.

And, if you don't like it, don't watch it.

This is the problem with censorship. Why can't you be the judge of it yourself.

These are just my thoughts and opinions. I do not mean to offend everyone, but this just seems to be bugging me.

Well, I mean on the internet in general.

    The topic is very controversial.

I wonder if this new version will correct the problems from the original release. I doubt it though, because it's coming out so soon after.

The only problem it'll correct is the "floater" problem.

According to Eccentric Cinema's review, there is a rumor that Grindhouse will eventually issue replacement discs which will be progressive, but this is the first I'm hearing about this. I suppose that means the recently announced re-release - which has apparently been pushed back to 12/20 - will feature the exact same discs, only with new packaging.

We have two copies of this up for rental at work. Yes, they're limited AND numbered. Chances are we'll be selling one or both within a week or so. I'm buying them both, not because I like the movie but because it'll be some sort of a collector's item, for me anyway.

I just purchased a copy of it at my local Hastings for $19.99. The second disc was loose but only had a few small scratches on it no big deal.
