Nope, the regular Deluxe Edition is NOT progressive.
The limited editions printed #s aren't even accurate. There's an unknown quantity of ones printed with 11,111...and I've heard some say that they have no # at all. Obviously far more discs where pressed than what Grindhouse reported would be...so I would say it is safe to say the regular case contains non-progressive leftovers...the keepcase inserts are probably what really delayed the deluxe edition's release. If it's the films transfer you crave, then you want the EC Ultra-Bit release anyway.
Maybe when (if) Grindhouse's next batch of deluxe editions hit shelves they will be re-worked in progressive...but I wouldn't count on it.

    I see now ... I didn't realize that before.

Mine is the original first release which I guess is what you would call the "limited release".

If anyone with the Deluxe release wants to check and has a computer with a DVD-ROM and/or DVD BURNER then let me know and I will be happy to walk through the steps to check for sure.

Basically you have to rip it to the computer then run it through this other program that will report if it is INTERLACED NTSC or FILM NTSC (i.e., PROGRESSIVE).

The unrated version? Haha, would they release in any other form? Well, whatever can sell a few more copies I guess. More power to them.

Kinda old news, but it hasn't been posted here yet. A promotional poster has surfaced for Deodato's sequel to Cannibal Holocaust. The film is still in pre-production, but they were looking to go into production in September, but I guess a there is still a disagreement between Deodato and the producers about a certain part in the film that Deodato does not want to compromise, so until that is resolved they won't be filming yet.

Found some more information on the film:

    Synopsis:

In 1980, Ruggero Deodato shocked the world with his gruesome horror masterpiece Cannibal Holocaust. Banned in more than 17 countries, the film was so disturbing and the effects so graphic, many believed that the film depicted real murders. For his involvement, Deodato was brought up on charges in Italy, eventually exonerated of any wrongdoing, and the film continued to make its mark on the international community with its incredibly horrific acts of violence and unsettling social commentary. In 2006, Cannibal Holocaust was listed by Entertainment Weekly magazine as one of the top 20 controversial films of all time.

    Until now…

Ruggero Deodato, one of the most innovative horror directors of all time, is about to shock the world again with his newest vision… Cannibals.

In this modern and extremely perturbing look at man's propensity for evil, a story that appears to be taking place in the jungle soon expands to unexpected and terrifying new locations. While it is comforting to believe that civilized society has progressed beyond barbaric acts of torture and cannibalism, such naïve thinking is far from the truth. Evil is within us and cannot be contained. Modern advancements in technology have created a world vulnerable to the spread of evil. And so it has… giving birth to increasingly horrific acts of depravity. Unspeakable savagery no longer exists only within the secretive rituals of uncivilized, uneducated tribes. Unspeakable savagery is everywhere.
Almost three decades ago, Deodato changed history when four young documentarians disappeared in the Amazon. In 2009, he will do it again. There is no doubt. The unabashed examination of perversion in Cannibals will expose modern movie goers to images that will haunt them for years to come.

Sounds interesting...Could possibly be a very intelligent piece. Who knows?

Wow - they're still peddling the old "Who are the real savages" mantra. :D

    Like I wouldn't watch it.

Sounds like a drastically different movie, only Deodato's using the fame of the original film to build up the hype.

I'm brining the savage jungle to my city of Saskatoon, SK on Sept. 12th. Complete UNCUT 35mm film screening of Deodato's classic with a sinister 35mm trailer reel before the movie. A long shot, but some additional advertising as well, so if you're anywhere near here, this may be of interest to you!
