I hear ya bro.
Thanks for clearing that up! I always thought it was Dante that filmed that segment!
"No offence" but I thought Dario Argento's segment was really good.
As I already said, I loved it!!
I thought it rocked, too.
each to theor own. sorry i should have put an IMO before it.
Anyone else in the UK, catch IMPRINT last night?...Yiiiiii!!!!! I can see why the 'suits' might have been a bit uncomfortable. The abortion bits were nasty but the torture stuff was really extreme.....Typical Takashi Miike i guess. Not sure that i really got what it was all about but it certainly stands out in the series for being a real horror piece as opposed to some of the more luke-warm offerings.
I'm not in the UK, but a torrent was up this morning and I just watched it on vcd.
At first I was worried it was cut since there's a Bravo logo in the upper right corner and it was slow to get going. Soon it was clear it if it was cut it wasn't by much as it just got more and more twisted. I was still wondering why Showtime would have a problem with it, until
the fetuses started floating. The torture wasn't quite that harsh IMO, but it just kept getting more and more brutal.
Great episode, definitly among the best the series has to offer.
I hated it. Personally, I don't think Showtime cut it from the series because of the fetuses or the torture sequences or the gore. I think they did it because it was just plain Baaaaaaaaaaaaad!!! Yeah the gore, torture, fetuses, and misogyny were very brutal, but I could have handled that if only the acting wasn't totally atrocious and the script not completely incoherent and stupid. I really felt embarrassed for everybody involved in this production. Hands down the worst of the series.
Gonna see sometime soon. ANd, then we shall see.
The only Masters Of Horror I'm even interested in buying are Carpenter's, Argento's, and Miike's.
I think I'm not going to buy the box set.
Most of them were crap. Why spend money for the worst ones, when you can just buy your favs and save money.
Just saw Carpenter's epsoide, fucking fanastic.
Great film, and a brilliant example why I got into Horror in the first place.
Just watched Sick Girl and Fair Haired Child for the first time. Thought Sick Girl was pretty good, Fair Haired Child was just okay.
God, I hope the rest are a little better, though.
This is The Greatest Film Of All Time when you compare to Deer Woman.
I really loved it. Hardcore, scary, blood, and a nice twist. The atompshere was spot on and brilliant.
Most of the guys for season 2 suck. They need Miike to come back and show it how it's done.
Also, can someone explain the ending for me in IMPRINT?
Why did the woman change when she got shot, and what does that imply and mean. And, what excatly did he do to his sister?
Cover art and release date for Deer Woman and Sick Girl have been posted here, as well as the date for Homecoming and Pick Me Up.
I'm glad to see they're sticking to the single releases, but I wish they'd hurry the fuck up with Dance of the Dead.
Anyway, here's another article with lots of season 2 news:
I'm glad their sticking to single. I'm sure as hell not going to buy all of these.
And, the John Landis DVD shows truly he's no Master of Horror.
I was outraged when I first heard they weren't doing a boxed set, but now that I've seen a good chunk of them, I wouldn't buy the boxed set at all. The only one I'm definitely buying as a single is Jenifer. I have every other Argento film, and I really liked this one! I've only seen 8 of them so far. I'm waiting on my sisters tapes off of Showtime.
I will tear my hair out and gouge my eyeballs if they don't eventually release a boxed set with all the episodes.
UK at least is doing a box set DR.
Dug both Cigarette Burns and Dreams in the Witch House. Will be buying the lot of these as they're released. Pretty damn good special features on these DVD's, too. Brian Yunza was being interviewed on DITWH, and I realized that he must do a Masters of Horror episode. I'm a huge Yuzna fan and feel this would be right up his ally! Looking forward to his "Beneath Still Waters" film, as well (hope it's A LOT better than Rottweiler, which sucked, IMO).
Just got done watching Pick Me Up and Haeckel's Tale and thought they were both just "okay." I've only seen four of these so far (Fair Haired Child and Sick Girl were the other two) and overall I can't say I'm too thrilled.
I still have Cigarette Burns on my DVR so hopefully that's a little better.
