The cover art always made me wonder in what exactly the axe is stuck in?

Tree stump? Female torso w/ night gown?

    Any ideas?

It looks like both. Well, not really a stump, it looks to me like a night gown wrapped around a tree.

I always though it was torso, but it definitely is not. It's definitely a night gown, but if that's a torso then it's worst looking one I've seen :D

I agree with dvdfan - looks like a gown wrapped around a tree. I'd bee interested know what the metaphor here is - all chicks are like tree's? You gotta chop 'em down? haha.

Man, this really needs an uncut DVD release.

"Flat as a board and needs a screw!"

I always just assumed it was a tree trunk, but yeah, the more you look at it the less sense it makes!

I was a rebel and said 'tree'. Because it does look like a tree...

Yeah it's definitely a tree trunk with a night gown axed onto it. Heh...and all these years I just assumed it to be a female torso. Never really looked much into it.

However, that "HBO Video" logo is what ruins the whole effect.

Especially the gown. You would think a hiking, backpacking gal roughing it in the wilderness would take along a see-through gown :eek2:

Now...what they SHOULD have done if they really wanted this to move off the shelves is put a scene of bewildered campers sitting around eating chili out of a can, with word balloons over their heads saying things like "MMMM", "yummmm" and "sssmmmack"...

Unfortunately, despite the fact that there are several pretty great sequences in this movie, the two things I always remember first about it are the stupid campfire scene with them all sitting around eating noisily, and the endless scenes of wildlife.

Bumping an old thread as I just tried to sit through The Prey and was so bored. You sum it up pretty much perfectly here; a ridiculous amount of slow wildlife shots for padding and pretty much no character development, just small talk that was putting me to sleep.

Man, I'd love to be bored by The Prey on Blu-ray... Seriously, for all its flaws, I still find it charming. Plus that burn makeup rocks.
