The all-star Resident Evil: Rising thread raised some pointed, important, and interesting opinions surrounding the films.

From the poll above, please select the option that most closely fits your thoughts about this cinematic franchise.

    The world thanks you.

edit: 12th option should be "I love Kate Beckinsale—oh wait, wrong franchise! My bad." Please excuse the error.

such a variety of options, yet none of them fit me. I am apathetic about the series - I watched the first three (i think...), and don't understand either the hate or the love. they were just...there. how many are there now? 5? 6? it's so annoying when these franchises refuse to number their entries.

Where's the "I love Part 1 and 5, 3 and 4 had their moments, where Part 2 was complete crap."

I'm in the same boat. I only saw the first three (I think?). They're incredibly stupid, but harmless fun. Still, I wish they would have gone a bit darker and gothic in tone, similar to the first video game.

From what I remember, the first film was extremely similar to Ghosts Of Mars. And the third film was extremely similar to Legion. All of which coincidentally happen to be Sony films. It's almost as though Sony is recycling scripts.

Other. I enjoy them for what they are, but as soon as every installment is over with the Men in Black come along and mind wipe me. I'm kind of waiting for the last one to be made and released so that I can watch them back to back to see if it all makes some sort of cohesive sense, because viewing them one at a time over a decade it sure doesn't seem that way.

From the first to the last one - I only like them 90% because of Milla- the other 10% is action. If Milla was not in the new one I would not watch it.

Other: I liked the first film upon initial viewing (it was no high art), but it's gone downhill on subsequent viewings.

I've only ever seen the first movie. Except for the cool Day of the Dead-referencing ending, it wasn't very good. I've never bothered with the subsequent films. (I have to say, the teaser for the second one was brilliant.) So I voted for Kate Beckinsale, as I do enjoy the Underworld movies (especially the first and third ones).

Every time I sit down with a beer (or beers) smuggled into a theater to watch these in glorious 3D, I pretend as if it's starting from the premise of "Alice is a product of the Umbrella Corp and therefore hates the Umbrella Corp, because they ruined the world. She also hates zombies and she has super powers." That's about all you need to know, really.

I would like to see them drop the Big Bad Douche, however, and find a new villain.

First two for me. Like I said in the other thread, the series just keeps on getting worse with each installment.

I thought the first film was pretty bad, the second film was unwatchable, stopped there. For some odd reason I still own a few of these (Not sure which ones exactly) as I picked them up cheap in steelbook form, so one day I will give them another shot, maybe.

I realize that none of the films are particularly great, but I'm into anything Resident Evil.

I like the first and third okay and the fourth is a real fun, dumb treat in 3D. The second film sucks and the fifth one mostly sucks save for the prologue where it's actually, brielfy, *gasp* - a HORROR film!

I'll probably go see the sixth one, especially if it really is the final chapter as it logically seems it should be, but I'm ready for that to be it.

Honestly, I'd rather see a BloodRayne 4 from Uwe Boll than a Resident Evil 7 from Paul W.S. Anderson.
