I must admit I am curious about the origins of the thing.

Pleeeeeease bring Rick Baker or Rob Bottin aboard. Minimize the CGI.

The idea of a prequel sounds extremely cool and open to so much.....All I ask is have Carpenter direct and Bottin do the special effects again.....and no goddamn shitty CGI....I want old-school puppets, props, etc..............Larry

It'd be really cool if they get John Carpenter back.

The origin of The Thing was outer space, so they could set it on, say, Mars. :D

Carpenter won't ever made another truly good horror film, imo. And I'm not sure who could do a reasonable job on such a title - young guys are going to be full of jump scares and fast cutting... something that would have ruined the Carpenter version fo the film.

In other words - I know we all like to revisit scenes of great excitement, but this is probably a bad idea...

Sounds good. I hope this Thing is as badass as Carpenter's.

I am more interested in the "Latino Review".

Sounds like a gay porn mag!

I too agree that having Carpenter at the helm would be a bad move. I think he's just spent, done, all dried out of talent, and I think he knows this too. As for the fx, I'd want a combination of traditional and CGI. Yes, it would be ideal to use traditional fx whenever possible, but just think of all of the possibilities if they got a really good group of CG animators together. Possibilities are endless.

Best bet is to merge the two, which can be done really well (Hellboy II being a great example).

I'm really glad we're going to find out what happened to the Norwegians. I've never been able to fully enjoy Carpenter's film with this question mark hanging over my head.

Agreed! If you want a prequel/sequel, read the damn comics or play the video game. :D
