Well I wouldn't call it a sequel if that was the case. It's more along the lines of "influenced by true events" which doesn't mean sequel. Of course it could always just be a sequel to the original film though it doesn't seem to be 100% clear yet. Either way it seems more interesting to me than the original film which I thought was "meh". I wouldn't call it a sequel if that was the case.
The cinematography looks beautiful. Just like American Horror Story, I'm really excited to see this solely based on the fact that Alfonso Gomez-Rojen is directing it. The colors look so lush and vibrant. I'm really looking forward to this!
Any idea on a Blu/DVD release date? I assume it won't be too long since it is VOD and not coming out as a full on theatrical release.
It could be good, but yeah, it looks extremely cookie cutter to me. I hope they manage to work in a "death by musical intrument" scene like the trombone kill in the original. That scene is so comically absurd, yet extremely creepy at the same time. Orion!!
The killer's awful talkative this time around. I'm not sure how I feel about that. This kind of looks like the Silent Night Deadly Night remake, where it's sort of a remake but mostly something completely different.
The voice of the killer sounds really stupid. I'm waiting for him to say "I am Batman" at any moment. I am not impressed with the trailer. Would probably buy it if it goes on sale at Walmart, where it no doubt will end up for under $15.
This looks terrible and borderline stupid just the preview. Hopefully the movie itself doesn't turn out as bad. Love the original and I welcome the concept idea of a sequel.
The trailer doesn't sell me on this movie being worth it. But since Blumhouse Productions has a pretty descent tract record I might check it out when it hits DVD.
Are we all talking about this trailer?!?!? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziRIF0kWOJs It looks head and shoulders over most of what's out there. It looks like De Palma / Fincher quality for fuck sakes. What part of that is cookie cutter or "terrible and borderline stupid"? Man some of you guys are really hard to please.
Count me in as intrigued by the trailer - it looks beautifully filmed and creepy. I love the 1976 TTTDS, and this one is obviously not a remake, and it doesn't come off as a sequel either (considering that the 1976 film exists within this film).
I reviewed the original on the other horror forum. I watched the movie fairly recently but I originally heard about it in Scream. I thought the movie was good if I remember correctly. I didn't like the bumbling police that much. I don't know why that's a frequent trope in horror movies so much. I remember a cop car crash scene that was crazy. But I look forward to this sequel update. I won't watch the trailer. I'll see if the movie can scare me. The idea itself is good.
