That's what I thought, I've been trying to keep track of this series, I own 1-4 of the original run.

Part 8 is the remake. Part 9 would be Genesis.

The remake doesn't count as a part 8, it's a remake so it starts back at 1 again ;)

    Genesis is part 8.

Well that's fine for you, but for me, it's the 8th Children of the Corn movie in the series and that's what I'll call it. ;)

Yeah but is Genesis following the remake or is it following Revelations?

I haven't seen it yet, but from what I've heard, it's a prequel to the original (please correct me if I'm wrong).

A lot of these horror franchises you just have to view each film as its own. Continuity be damned!

So by your logic the Nightmare on Elm Street remake is part 8 and if a sequel to the original franchise came out you'd classify it as a part 9. I mean what if it was even called Nightmare 7 or something? Wouldn't it be illogical to call it part 9? Plus this concept becomes even more complicated if you try to include Freddy vs Jason.

Remakes should be considered stand alone, not as sequels.

I consider FvJ to be part 8 and the remake is 9. Hey man, if it doesn't suit you, that's cool. This is how I view these horror franchises. I don't lose any sleep over it. Like I said before, continuity be damned. It's the ninth Freddy movie, be it a remake or whatever.

Example, I consider the TCM remake to be part 5, because lets face it, that series is all over the place, with part 4 being a remake itself. Some may consider the remake it's own start over. Well, you have TCM 3d coming out next year that is a sequel to the 70s original. But to me, it'll be part 7. :D

Well each to their own I guess. I prefer to catagorize mine and keep the original franchise together and remakes and sequels to remakes seperate.

 I was typing that on my phone and the things love to auto correct, but never to anything that makes any sense. And they say technology is getting smarter

It should say "remakes and sequels to remakes". ;)
