I'm always tempted, I've read a few Bava books but this is one for he ages. it's not even the price tag for me, just the time commitment. I say go for it.

It's solely the price tag for me. But, I'd certainly grab it if I had the extra cash. I've listened to all of Lucas' Bava commentaries and the guy really has some good analytical chops and knows his material. And he certainly helped me appreciate Bava on a deeper level.

Or, you could just give me money to me and I'll spend it wisely.

Did you do it, Dave? I'm really tempted.

Not yet. I have been watching a few more Bava movies and seeing if it helps my decision at all. The ebook is only $30 but in this case it's just not the same; I want the physical book.

This book is truly worth it if you are a Bava fan. I bought it when it was first released and it is the thickest "most pages" of my collection. The amount of love and work that went into it is incredible.

Fuck it, I did it. I'll see everyone in 10 years when I finish it.

Haha. Not me...yet. When they announce less than 10, which is suspect will be soon, maybe I'll pull the trigger. That's a lot, though. I just went back part time at my job and while money isn't necessarily tight, it's a lot to pull the trigger on. I just payed $275 to get access to the clubhouse (weight room, pool) and out condo, so that was my "bava money"...

Oh man, I hear you. I got an unexpected extra $$$ bonus at work so what the hell. It's rare I do anything other than work and play dad so I might as well have it on the shelf. Between this, Nightmare USA and Red Rover Press made available the last few copies of NEVER SLEEP AGAIN on New Year's Day (so I pulled the trigger there, too) I'm set for reading for 2015!

Any reason why you suspect that? If he ran out before I got a chance to pick it up, I'd be sorry indeed...

They recently announced (like within the past month) that less than 30 remained.

I see them on eBay and Amazon but have yet to see one below the price from Lucas himself. Plus who knows what happens to prices when it's officially sold out.

Oh fuck. Looks like I'm buying one this week.

Edit: Done. God help me, it was over $350 CAD shipped to Canada, but I double checked with my wife first, and she agreed that it could be considered my one and only birthday present (my bday's not till April). I've wanted a copy of this for years, so it's pretty exciting to actually know that a copy is en route.

And according to the bavabook blog site, as of December 6 there were only 50 copies remaining. It might have been mentioned somewhere else when they dropped below 30.

Mine arrived today. It's enormous, and heavy (says 12 pounds… but… it's heavy).

Actually I just checked my email. It was Donna Lucas who told me on 12/22 that less than 40 remained. I asked her for a coupon and she said they can't with so few remaining. She did say she would do a payment plan if I wanted to pay over time. Maybe I will do that. I can definitely scrounge $100 a month for a few months. Said she would hold one if I did that.

Nice. I'm hoping mine comes early next week. Ohio to southern Ontario isn't much of a distance.

Got it today, what a tome! Now the hard part - to read it. I feel like I should invest in a reading desk or something.
