Great choices! Especially Severance. I watch that one every October and have been massively craving a viewing of it. Think I'll wait till the weekend though to watch it so I have time.

I actually started watching three movies around midnight, watched three more in the morning before heading to work at 2:30, and now I'm finishing Creepshow 2. I try to watch at least 6-7 a day, possibly more if I'm not working.

I had not seen this one for 10 years, or so. It was on HDNet Movies recently, so I DVRed it for October. Definitely had a good time with this one. Much more enjoyable than I remembered. Not a 5 star classic, but a solid 3 stars. Julian Sands seems to be having a pretty good time, as do Richard E. Grant and Lori Singer. Good little Steve Miner film.

My wife and I also watched episode 1 from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, season 1. I've never seen the whole series, so we may give it a go. Had a good time with that, as well.

I may try to sneak in one more tonight...

    Pumpkinhead (1988)

I love this film. Every viewing I see another aspect I like. From the beautiful atmosphere to the incredible monster. The acting by Lance Henriksen and the rest of cast is believable. The thirty something teens are fine. None of them got on my nerves. Even the "asshole" character has his moments. It's too bad Stan Winston never directed another horror film. Because he does quite well here.

    Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes (2006)

I skipped Pumpkinhead II for a couple of reasons. For one it sucks and second I don't own it (See reason one). So This, the third of the series is a direct sequel to the first film. It's a lot of fun and it's nice to see a follow up in this day and age and not another damn remake. It's also nice to see Henriksen return. There's a bit of gore in this one, unlike the first Pumpkinhead, which isn't really that gory. The creature effects in this one are decent, ecxept when it comes to the CG creature effects. Not so good there, but thankfully their kept to a minimum.

    Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud (2007)

This one was fair. One the plus side it's relentless. it starts with a monster rampage and keeps up a decent pace throughout. Like the previous film Henriksen is back. The creature is pretty much the same as the last film and there's a few CG shots, but not a whole lot. The trouble with this one is I really didn't care about the two dueling clans story. Nor did I care for the Romeo and Juliet romance.

    #5. Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II (1987) - ***1/2 / 5 (around 1:30 PM)
    #6. Mary Reilly (1996) - ****1/2 / 5 (around 8:15 PM)

    #8. Masters of Horror: Jenifer (2005) - *** / 5 (around 11:30 PM)

I had the day off today, so it was easy. Also, I've changed my sleeping pattern. I slept maybe an hour between every 1 movie until the last 3. So not only did I stay on-track and didn't yawn or almost pass out through any of them, but I also had time to eat twice like I usually eat and watch 3 non-horror TV shows. Today's aim is - a few vegetables and water.

    SPAWNINGBLUE'S OCTOBER 2009 HORROR WATCHING

Bold = first time viewing. Rating out of 10.

    October
    1
    House of 1000 Corpses (2003) 8/10
Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Film (2006) (Documentary) 8.5/10
    Dead End (2003) 7/10
    2

I was surprised how much I actually liked House of 1000 Corpses. I haven't watched it since I first picked up the DVD years ago, and Zombie's last few films being the lackluster Halloween's, I didn't go in expecting too much. His directing is actually not too bad in this one, and the quick cut editing is kept to a minimum. I also really liked the characters and their were a few really creepy/ disturbing parts.

I also watched the Going to Pieces documentary again and was glad to see it was as good the second time as i remembered it. They cover a lot of films in the hour and a half short time, although I dislike how they spoil a lot of movies. I have never seen happy Birthdya to Me and now I know the surprise ending! Other then that though, very cool doc. with a lot of participants interviewed.

And finally I watched for the first time Dead End. This didn't turn out to be exactly what I was expecting, or as good for that matter, but I still did really enjoy it. Interesting in the least, although I'm not sure if I liked the ending, and some of the acting at times was a little over the top.

    "In The Name Of Satan"
    TRIPLE FEATURE

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

    1. I Drink Your Blood (1970) Fun exploitation about a group of satan lovers injected with rabies.
    2. Werewolves on Wheels (1971) Rowdy biker gang turned into werewolves by devil worshipers. A bit bland but still ok.
    3. The Devil's Rain (1975) William Shatner Vs. Ernest Borgnine in a tale about good versus evil satanists. Cheesy goodness.

I could only fit in a couple today...

    Oct. 2nd:
    4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Not as good as the series... but the movie is good for a few laughs
    5. Dead Teenagers
This is one of those movies that is in that 50 movie boxset. This one actually impressed me! Sure the acting and the effects could use some major help... it feels like a student film. But the writing... the stories themselves were definitely enjoyable. This is an anthology... and I liked all the stories except the first one.
