Oct. 3rd. Funny, I also watched Ghost Breakers for the third time in the past month!! Great film.
I picked up Poltergeist Spec.Ed. at Wal-Mart for 6.88$ and watched that for the first time in about fifteen years. I think I like it now more that I'm older than when I first saw it.

a Turkish almost-scene-for-scene remake of The Strange Vice Of Ms. Wardh (but with something missing as it's only 60 minutes long), this has some music ripped from someone else's movie, very stilted and wooden acting, some nudity and gore

The Hills Run Red (2009) - After seeing what this movie was actually about I'm convinced that Warners 'forced' R-Rating and the director complaining about it was nothing but a publicity stunt ;) That said, I really enjoyed this one. Much better than the usual DTV crap 4/5. Trick 'r Treat (2008) Lucky me bought an early copy at a DVD convention today, sadly no Blu-rays of Trick 'r Treat though. But I'm fine with the standard DVD. Fun movie, not perfect but I'm still giving it 4/5.

    10/4- Dead Pit/Flight Of The Living Dead/ Horror/Thaw/Seventh Moon

Horror: This was alright. Really enjoyed Tomaselli's directing though. He's really competant behind the camera and gives the film a real surreal, nightmarish feel. But at only 70 mins it felt kind of rushed. (6/10)

Thaw: Another ok movie. It felt like a mix between Cabin Fever and John Carpenters The Thing, yet failed to deliver the paranoia presented in the two mentioned films. Not to mention an underutilized Val Kilmar and an extremely annoying female protagonist. (6/10)

Seventh Moon: This one comes from Edwardo Sanchez, the cowriter/editor/director or Blair Witch Project. For Sanchez's second solo effort its a solid one. The editing and directing is really wel done and the creatures are really creepy and effective. Much props to Amy Smart for stepping it up and proving she can act as something other than the slutty bimbo like in the Crank films. (7/10)

    Carrie (1976)

Classic, hadn't watched it in a long time. Still holds up. Dirty pillows indeed.

    Tamara (2005)

Actually enjoyed this one. Trashy horror fun. Reminded me of Jennifer's Body.

    Hell High (1989)

For some strange reason, I really love this one.

I just moved into a house and there's a lot of work to do so it's severely limiting my time to watch movies this month so far. I should be ok for the rest of this week though and after next weekend, most of the stuff should be done so then I can go hardcore.

Shaun was great as usual. Silent Venom was yet another badly done cgi fest with washed up actors and a by-the-numbers plot.

BOOGEYMAN 2 (1983 VHS tape from VCII) - fell asleep (just as I did in '83) and the tape played all the way through and when it reached the end, the tape broke from the spindle and kept whirring away. Now I'll never know how it ends until I find it on Ebay!

Spent most of the weekend in the theater, hadn't been in weeks.Saw the following...

ZOMBIELAND-Fun horror comedy with a strong cast, good pace and lots of laughs. The much discussed cameo sequence is great. Not quite up to SHAUN OF THE DEAD but a lot of fun.

JENNIFER'S BODY-Not a bad film but not as good as it could be.The blend of scares and laughs is a little off and Cody's script (and trademark snarky dialogue) feels a bit forced at times. The cast is solid and there's plentiful blood on display but this should have been either funnier or more poingnant,it's not quite enough of either.

SORORITY ROW-Not bad reworking of HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW (it keeps the prank gone wrong angle but little else). The castings okay and the kills are decent, the direction isn't bad either.More in the SCREAM/I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER vein that that of ''Golden Age " slashers.A decent watch though nothing special.

PANDORUM-Sci-Fi horror film is a real mess.Combines elements of several better films (ALIEN,EVENT HORIZON,THE DESCENT,PITCH BLACK etc.)The direction is equal parts repetetive and confusing and the films solid effects and art direction are let down by odd editing and dank lighting. The two leads are wasted. The hero takes a record number of falls in the film,I lost count of how many times he fell hard on his back and head.Hope the stunt man was well paid.
