While Machine Girl was amusing, it was better suited for a short. Why is Tokyo Gore Police nearly 2 hours long? No movie in this particular genre (self-aware gore-cheese) should ever be longer than 87 minutes.

HKFlix already started shipping pre-orders for this (I got mine yesterday).

My initial reaction is somewhat mixed. The movie strikes me as a mix of Blade Runner, Starship Troopers (style), Robocop, and The Guyver, as if David Lynch had done it while under the influence of some serious drugs.

For me though, the lack of a strong narrative and the comic book style was a detraction (some may like it more for that reason). But, the imagination that went into some of the visuals was extraordinary (special effects were not great, but ok). I wasn't disappointed (despite high expectations), and overall I liked it, but I'm not sure yet if I love it. For now, I'd rate it a 3.5/5.

The only extras on the DVD were the trailer, and four trailers for other Tokyo shock releases. (plus English and Japanese 2.0 and 5.1 sound, with optional English subtitles)

Finally caught it, and was kind of disappointed. It was certainly fun and entertaining, but considering how much I loved The Machine Girl, I was letdown. It had its moments, but it was about 20 minutes too long, and it just wasn't the heap of awesomeness I was expecting.

    3/5

It was fun. tons of fake looking spraying blood and a few hot women. I liked it a bit more than Machine Girl. I wouldn't recommend buying the DVD, but a rental is well worth your time.

I agree with the 'too long' comments. I understand what this movie is trying to be, and I was digging it for about an hour, but after after a certain amount of low budget purposely over-the-top cheese I just became numb to it, and by the time the final scenes came around I just wasnt feeling it, I think I just sat grimacing, unimpressed with the entire final sequence, kind of embarrassed for anyone involved in it because how bad it was.
I'd recommend it as a rental...

I watched this last night, overall I enjoyed it, the gore is always good for a laugh and some of the scenes were outrageous. I can relate to the moving being a little long as well but I guess I was just anticipating how over the top the next kill was that I didn't look at the clock once. I will pick this up because I know my friends would get a kick out of it.

It's $12 at Best Buy. Not too bad for the price.

Liked Machine Girl a lot more. This is closer to Versus territory. there are better movies with Japanese girls in miniskirts, thank biscuits...

Crap, I hated Versus. It amazed me that someone could screw up gangsters, zombies and swordplay like that.

My order is still on hold... Maybe I'll cancel it and watch it someother way instead.
