What a tasty thread this is. Thanks Rhett.

In no special order because I am far too flighty for that:

    1. Friday the 13th
    2. Intruder
    3. Sleepaway Camp 2 (I like it so much better than the others I have to count it. )
    4. A Nightmare on Elm Street
    5. The Burning
    6. Silent Night, Deadly Night
    7. The Prowler
    8. Hospital Massace
    9. Alone in the Dark
    10. My Bloody Valentine

I would have had The Stepfather up there as it is one of my favorite movies ever but I am not sure of its slasher status.

Others in my head are New Year's Evil, Sorority House Massacre **whistles innocently past Rhett,** Terror Train, Madman, Prom Night, Slaughter High, The Initiation, April Fool's Day, and The Funhouse.

BLACK CHRISTMAS and HALLOWEEN don't count, as they're 70s films. ;) BC is the best slasher film of all time though, and one of my top 5 favorite films.

Doh! I forgot that it was an 80's only slasher thread. Ok, so lemme replace Black Christmas and Halloween with:

    *Happy Birthday To Me
    *Silent Night Deadly Night

It was odd doing a favorite slasher list and not having those 2. It just seemed wrong somehow.

Hey Eddie, he said no sequels. If I can't mention 70's slashers, then you can't have sequels! ;)

I know the rules go "no sequels" but, come on rhett...some of the sequels WERE better than the originals. :) Anyway, here's my list.

    1. The Burning
    2. Terror Train
    3. April Fool's Day
    4. My Bloody Valentine
    5. Friday the 13th Part 2
    6. Happy Birthday to Me
    7. Madman (fucking sue me! :) )
    8. The Initiation
    9. Prom Night
    10. House on Sorority Row

It is of my belief that Nightmare on Elm Street isn't a slasher. Rather, a monster movie with certain conventions of the slasher sub-genre. Same with Friday the 13th Parts 3-10. Only 1, 2, and 5 are true-blue slashers in the Friday series.

There are still PLENTY of slashers I have yet to see, but list is what I consider "the greats" right now. :)

I agree!! I had to go back and look at my list just to make sure they weren't on there. Fortunately, I stayed in the 80's all the way. :D
