Well first of all it's directed by Sergio Martino!A seriously underrated director IMO.It's his style that makes this Giallo a classic.
How much violence do you want??There are 11 deaths in this movie!(including a flashback)

According to the list I have only 24 to go![IMG][IMG]
The main reasons why I haven't bought those are because
    a)they're mediocre Gialli,or I'm just not interested..
    b)they're f'ing expensive Japanese releases
c)bad disc quality (bad transfers,P&S,no English subs)
    d)I haven't ordered them yet

But I'll probably buy some of them eventually.....
    The Bava discs for sure!

I haven't seen many giallos, but I'm desperately trying to change that. :)

And I should mention that The Cat O'Nine Tails is one that I didn't think was particularly special at first, but after a couple viewings I have grown to love it. So if you didn't really like it, give it another try... perhaps it will grow on you, too.

Yeah, it sure ain´t a bad movie... A couple of viewings got me hooked!
But i think that it´s the weakest in the "animal trilogy".
    Gotta watch it tomorrow... :)

Cat Nine Tails is great...I love the morricone score. The best IMO dealing with his scores.

Not as familiar or experienced with this most captivating genre as many of you are, but the five that have intrigued me the most so far are:

What Have You Done To Solange?
The Bird With The Crystal Plumage
    Who Saw Her Die?
    Don't Look Now
    Blood And Black Lace

I'm indebted to this most excellent board for further educating me here. Giallo movies for the most part are among the most atmospheric I've ever seen. ;)

I just saw Case Of The Bloody Iris. Very good. But why do they add sleaze to dampen the movie. The thing that makes Argento and Bava different from the rest is that they don't make there films sleazy. I really don't see no need to have sleaze in it, it just makes the movie phony, cheap and slows the film down. Without it it could have made for a faster pace even. Good film neverthless 8/10.

I wouldn't consider Don't Look Now a giallo because it's not Italian... it just takes place in Italy.

Check this out from www.gorezone.net :

** NoShame Films is a brand new DVD company that you will have to keep on eye on! Owned by Italian Michele De Angelis and the American Joyce Shen, they had experience working for Anchor Bay, Blue Underground and Alan Young Pictures. They started NoShame Films to release Italian genre movies for North America. Their first two titles will be release in April and are BOCCACE 70 and YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW. On May 31st, they will release BLADE OF THE RIPPER and CASE OF THE SCORPION'S TAIL. In June expect four more releases including THE KIDNAP OF MARY LOU and Sergio Martino's GAMBLING CITY. Thanks DeathDealer I heard something about that but I couldn't find it.
    Thanks again!
I'm mostly interested in Blade Of The Ripper and although I have Scorpion's Tail I'm willing to upgrade if it's framed correctly.

That's great news! I'll refrain from buying the "Strano Vizio" italian dvd (which has no english language option) and wait for the "Blade of the Ripper" Us release then!

Is Blade Of The Ripper any good, because Scoprion Tail was bearly average.
