To me, Sergio Martino is the next best thing after Argento, Bava & Fulci in the genre... His gialli are all top notch in my opinion...

"Blade of the Ripper" is his first one and definitely one of his best... "Torso" is awesome too. But then, I also really loved "Case of the Scorpion's Tail"...

You can't go wrong with "All the Colors of the Dark" & "Your Vice is a Locked Room..." either... They don't make alot of sense but definitely make up in style...

First off, I really liked Who Saw Her Die, but the thing that ruined it was the last line in the film, about him not being a real priest. It kinda messed with everything. You Know what I mean?

And, do any of you guys have or know where to get the theme from Who Saw Her Die or Blood Stained Shadow? Both were really cool and orginial. Thanks.

Also, I've got a better idea. Why don't we do a report card for the giallo films, it would be better than narrowing it down to five, which most of you hate doing.

I really like those movies you mentioned but
perhaps you should try using spoiler tags for those who haven't seen a particular movie??

Yep.Those X-Rated "Hartboxes" are nice but not really practical.Though I like the use of the original(?) posterart:

Well it's a stylish film.It doesn't have that much killings in it and people may find it slow in places. But this is just one of those films that clicked with me.Many times listed as Giallo but I'm not even sure if it is.
If you want a great film try it.If you want a "slasher" kind of film this could be too slow moving for you....

There's a review at Eccentic Cinema:
Though I agree on some points this still is worth your money IMHO.

    Here's another review.

Slowpaced and more of a mixture between horror and gialli than a pure giallo, but it´s a terrific movie. One of my all time faves in Euro Horror.

The films that are coming from THe Giallo Collection part 2 look interesting but are they any good?

Is it something to look forward to? I've read some bad things about them.

I have no idea if these are good and I read good and bad things about them.
Best thing to do is to buy and see:)
I'm just eager to expand my Giallo collection!:D

  19. Il Corvo

    Il Corvo Guest

my top five would be :

    1- Phenomena
2- What Have You Done to Solange ?

    * By the way I was wondering this, didn't want to make a topic just for this. Some sites and people list this movie as : What Have You Done to Solange ?, while others call it : What Have They Done to Solange ?. What would be the most accurate translastion between the two from the Italian title.

    3- The New York Ripper
    4- Tenebre
    5- Don't Torture a Duckling / Deep Red (draw)

The English translation would be What Have You Done To Solange?
But in the movie someone (man on boat) talks about "..what they did to that poor Solange.." (or something like that).
