Of course his assertion that the negative has been locked up and untouched for 36 years seems to be refuted by this other comment from J.R. Bookwalter from a few days ago:

^^ That's just bizarre. :eek1: But I am surprised that CB offered a lengthy explanation. I kinda doubt the Blu-ray was sourced from the original negative though.

I guess the only chance for a corrected HD version with the original "unedited" version would most likely have to be sourced from a theatrical print, if there are still any decent ones that exist out there.

The 5 missing minutes are about as big of a conundrum as flight 370's whereabouts!

Band is the type of guy who doesn't realize that you need to spend money to make money. I bet you this whole debacle was him not wanting to spend any money to have it done right. I mean, c'mon, isn't this the same guy who had a bunch of Wizard Video VHS big boxes reprinted and said he magically "found" them in a warehouse?

Direct response to Charles Band's post from J.R. Bookwalter:

Does the 5 missing minutes ruin the film by any chance?

What a bunch of Bullshit Charlie Band:fuck: You don't even bother to check if this is the correct longer version you released on dvd back in the day (glad I held on to that by the way) but then you try to tell us this version supposedly plays better and looks better. :fire: Ever since that big box VHS B.S. I don't believe anything this moron says. He's just out to make a quick buck and to hell with the fans who made his company.

Great job WesReviews :) This one hits the nail

The sad truth is that Charles Band is a blatant liar. Everybody should know this since the Wizard Video fraud. I don't believe a word he is saying.
The sub par video quality of the new Blu indicates that it was not struck from the original negative.

Charles Band and Crazy Code Red Bill should take turns licking each other nuts.

Yeah... At $42 I'd really love something more specific, if be bummed to just get the same version again.

Lol. Does "Director's Cut" mean it's Charles Band's botched/rearranged/missing footage version? There is no "Director's Cut" . Those silly Germans.

I preordered it thru Diabolik mainly for the soundtrack CD and packaging. I don't actually have too much hope it's some properly scanned/fixed version that'll knock my socks off

I'm gonna wait a little and see when you guys get your copies if it's got the true uncut version or not. Not worth $42 otherwise.

It's not a new scan from the negative. They just used the botched transfer and filled in the missing bits from a different print. If it was a new scan they would have announced it. In the announcement they said something like "we corrected the mistakes of the US disc".
