    Those screenshots looks great! :)
Once again 88films releases a superior version. Maybe Full Moon should let these guys work on the US discs as well, since the company that does the work on the FM discs doesn't seem to know what the hell they are doing when it comes to encoding BD's etc.

Yup, it's no surprise that 88 Films' Blu-ray is superior to FM's own release. We can now pretty much count on that being true with every Blu-ray release.

Do we have some sort of comparison to the FM video quality? Also, are we certain all the jumpy complaints aren't present? Looks like 88 Films is all region so that's good.

The jump cuts and frame rate issues are my biggest concerns as well. Judging by those screengrabs it looks as if the 88 Films edition is going to be the better release PQ-wise. But if they're using the same master that FM used then we're in trouble. The 10K Bullets review doesn't mention anything.

Let's hope some reviewers write about if those problems are also in the 88 Films release

I think I would have noticed if the image was 'jumpy' I sat through the whole film.

If someone who has the FM Blu-Ray wants to post screenshots I will post corresponding screenshots from the 88 Films release for comparison.

If there were any issues with the things that you posted I would have mentioned them in my review. There was no issue with those things and that is why I didn't mention them in my review.

Not to worry, there was no issue with those things and that is why I didn't mention them in my review.

I guess everyone missed these parts of my review 'this is another strong transfer from 88 Films that is easily ranks among their best work to date'. and how I gave this release a highly recommended.

Alright, let's just settle down Guy. It's a valid question. Apparently, it was was a question on many minds. You could have epilepsy for all we know :)

Maybe burieddeep could hook you up with some screenshots from the FM release - thanks in advance!

    Thanks! :) It looks great...

I would imagine if there were any 'jumpy' issues with the transfer, 88 Films tried to remedy them as best as possible for their release.

Feck, I got taken badly for $27 buying it directly from FM...never again.

Attached are two images from my setup showing two frames at the 2:18 mark.
Notice how the second one is cropped on the right side.

Not sure if I should wait for a direct comparison to surface or double dip now?

I had trouble matching the exact shots you gave me. Anyway here are two back to back shots from the 2:18 mark.

    Screenshots can be found here.

During this time frame the image does not look jittery. It should be pointed out that there is a single frame of damage that occurs around the 2:19 mark. This is most definitely source related and not an issue with the transfer.

Image of damaged frame can be found here. Notice how to the right of the frame the extra black where there was image on the previous screenshots.

Sorry I tried to post them as thumbnail attachments. If anyone knows how to do this feel free to re-post these images.

DVDBeaver reviews the 88 Films UK Blu-Ray: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film3/dvd_reviews56/tourist_trap.htm

The running time appears to be consistent with the US Blu-Ray, but there is a nearly 5 minute discrepancy between the Blu-Ray and the Cult Video DVD. The 88 Films has 4% PAL speedup and at 1:26:18 would run nearly 90 minutes at 24 fps, instead of 25.

On the bright side, the specs, on paper at least, appear to blow away the US Full Moon releases, as usual.

Hmm... the running time discrepancy is puzzling. :eek2:

The US Blu-ray has a shockingly low bitrate... so it's not surprising that the 88 Films release is superior once again.

The Blu-ray screenshots look darker. I was disappointed with the Full Moon release so if the 88 Films edition isn't a big improvement I'll just have to accept the fact that this film just won't ever look really good.

The old DVD was contrast boosted, look at the lamp on the right on screen comparison nr 2. That's why the DVD looks brighter than the BD.

It would have been nice if they did a screen shot comparison with the Full Moon Blu.

If they did a contrast boost on the old DVD editions it apparently was needed cause it looks better IMO.

Both Blu-ray's are cut by approx 5mins compared to the old Cult Video DVD. Confirmed by a member at BD.com who has done a comparison.

What a pile of shit!!!! Was really looking forward to watching this again too.....Fuck balls!!!
