The first Troll's cheesy fun. Michael Moriarty, Lassie's June Lockhart as a witch, Sonny Bono turning into a tree, and recycled Ghoulies... What's there not to love?;) The second one's very memorable in all the wrong ways. Can't wait to get the double feature!

Troll 2 is the Plan 9 From Outer Space of our times and quite possibly one of the most sublimely bad movies of all time. It is a masterful work. I just get a chill thinking about it...

You know, so many people talk about "delightfully cheesy dialogue" or whatever when describing good-bad horror, which so often just isn't the case, you know, it's just plain shitty dialogue that's no fun at all. Ah, but Troll 2, not only does it have some of the best, most seriously fucked-up dialogue, it has the most brilliantly rotten Utah actors to deliver each little gem with panache! Two names that are seared into my memory forever are Connie Mcfarland and Margo Prey, and you too will remember these ladies (and others) when you experience Troll 2!

It should be said for anyone who hasn't seen it, you may not be able to make it through the entire thing the first time. It took three seperate sittings for me to initially make it all the way (what was I thinking!?) But when you view Troll 2 completely, I believe it can be a life-changing bad movie experience. Suddenly, you realize that Troll 2 isn't just like "oh yeah, that was bad, ha, ha..." -- the film actually transcends the ordinary boundaries of bad moviedom, it blasts into the stratosphere with pure, molten badness!

There's just too much to say about this movie! I can never list all the attributes which make this film true Trash Cinema Royalty.

Come this Tuesday, anyone who likes their bad movies really, really bad, should run, don't walk, to your nearest DVD retailer and demand your copy of Troll 2!
It's also good to note that this director Drago Floyd (aka Floyd Drago, aka Claudio Fragrasso) has directed lots of porn, and oh yeah, Zombie 4: After Death. I don't know, the guy really has that certain something, he has a touch that says, "I've directed lots of porn and Zombie 4." I hesitate almost to mention Zombie 4 because it's such shit and doesn't hold a candle to Troll 2, but it seems pertinent.

    Anyhow, that's my rant.

Thank you Hellbilly for starting such an important thread about one darn important movie! It's like a publlic service announcement that really means something. The more you know... :D

I'm really looking forward to picking up the TROLL/TROLL2 DVD this Tuesday! I've always loved these two films, the first one is alot of fun, and the second film is just wild, it has to be seen to be believed...and even then!:)

Thanks to MGM for putting out this 'Double Feature' DVD, who would have thought that both TROLL Films would be out on DVD, and for under $10 for the both films! This Tuesday is the day, I just love MGM!!

Thanks indiephantom, I just get so excited about Troll 2!
I love the fact that Troll 2 bears absolutely no relation to the original Troll in any way. A sequel in name only in which the word troll is spoken not once, but there's all this talk of goblins. It's genius.

I also really like the weird mixed messages in Troll 2 about meat-eating and such (the church sermon about the evils of meat and how it causes rotting, stinking intenstines is a highlight). I guess they were trying to do some kind of send-up of over-zealous vegetarians or something, but instead it's just fucked-up mess with some hilarious homophobic/erotic overtones throughout. The guys who are just "friends" snuggled up tight in bed together in the RV is just a little gay as is the guy who does some very ladylike stretches before he goes jogging in the gayest of pink running shorts. I also love the part where, after her boyfriend has climbed in her bedroom window, Connie McFarland (that brilliant little actress!) kicks him in the nuts and he exclaims, "What are you tryin' to do?! Turn me into a homo!?" Like, how would that make him gay?

Also, if there's one lesson to learn from Troll 2 it is: Jazzersizing in front of mirrors in towns called Nilbog will cause shitty optical effects to appear before the aforementioned jazzersizer.

Definite hilarious party movie, indiephantom! I've played my old VHS into the ground showing it to friends. The thing is, you put it on as kind of a joke, thinking maybe nobody will be into it, and then people just get sucked in. Then they want to see it again and bring over other people to watch it. You end up having to rewind to go back over dialogue becasue everybody is still laughing so hard from the last stupid thing that was uttered. I ended up giving out quite a few Troll 2 VHS tapes as Christmas presents a few years ago. Show it to your friends. :D

Christ I saw these films when I was a kid but I can hardly remember anything about either of em....

The first had the roll in the basement with some kind of ring on his finger right?

Was it the second one where the apartment complex turned into a big old chunk of forestry or what?

bad_cardsuk, the forest in the apartment building is in the first movie.

Also, I don't think anyone has mentioned that Julia Louis-Dreyfus is one of the stars in Troll. I believe she plays Sonny Bono's wife.

I'm not sure that she was his wife, but she got turned into a nymph and pranced around naked I think.

I remember there being an alright looking incarnation of the witch in Troll 2, where she was fondeling that ear of corn.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus does prance around naked but sadly it doesn't show anything, not even an ass. :(

Matt85, thanks for posting a picture of "Credence Leanore Gielgud Of Ancient Druid Origins", she's brilliant. Her drugstore witch make-up is fantastic and her line delivery is something to be savored. I especially like the erotic corn dance she does for one of the guys in the RV. I mean if you thought a Winnebago, an ear of corn and 500 lbs. of greasy store-bought popcorn wasn't sexy, well... you're right! But it's great entertainment! ;)
