Sorry if this has been done before but the search option came up with nothing.
Columbia TriStar is releasing this on DVD 06/17/03. I wonder if it's worth checking out?
Anybody seen this one or can share some info?

I picked it up on Tuesday and watched it the same night. I'll be watching it again tomorrow. It's a great film. Wonderful cAmera work, cinematography, great sword action and lots of wire work. Decent amount of blood spilling as well.

I just came back from Wal-Mart to see if they had the same Anchor Bay discs that Canadian stores seem to be getting. No dice. But strangely enough they did have Tsui Hark's Vampire Hunters! I would never have expected them to carry it. Anyways I bought it and will be checking it out as soon as I get offline. I'll let you guys know what I think of it later>

Even though the disc has shit for extras (like "Ringu") it's worth the money, IMO. If I was an asian film virgin, i'd say it was one of the most incredible action flicks ever. But I have seen quite a few. Regardless, it's still a great movie and very, very entertaining. If you like "Chinese Ghost Story", you'll like this. I just hope this does really well, because there's a shitload of fantastic Hong Kong stuff that needs to be acknowledged in the U.S.

I hate to be the one naysayer, but I rented it last night and I would have to say it's one of the lamest Asian movies I've seen. I know it had a very low budget, but so did Fong Say Yuk, and you couldn't see the seams at all with that movie. The whole movie was so uninspired, even for a B movie, and so boring, that after an hour I gave up. I did listen to about 10 minutes with the dubbed track, and it was more amusing than the actual movie, because they had dubbed one of the actors using a guy with a Mexican accent, trying to do a Chinese one.

The fights were awkwardly cut and they didn't even have that flashy "ain't it pretty" look that all Hark movies (except for the ones in English) have. Certainly Tsui stuck with his patented style of making sure the viewer cannot tell one character from another, see Time and Tide for the worst example of this, and confusing them into drifting off to think about the laundry, even with the simplest of plots.

This sounds like a remake of Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires.

    Say it ain't so.
