That's happened to me the last two times I've asked to have a hold on my mail - they just keep delivering and cramming the box as full as possible. But the time before that they actually did hold my mail and then lost it. It did finally show up a few weeks later but it's frustrating to deal with.

All that said, I'm usually very happy with my postal carrier and USPS delivery. I have had things go missing or get damaged over the years but given how much I order through the mail I've been pretty lucky. But I would be furious if a non-replaceable item like this were the one to get lost. I agree with Dave that they should hold back a small number of copies to deal with such problems.

I had an almost identical problem. After not getting a reply to my email that I sent over the weekend, I decided to call screen archives. They must have been getting a lot of these calls today because the guy who answered the phone sounded worn out. I told him what happened and he said he was looking into whether they could get replacement covers since a lot of them had been damaged. He asked me to write an email again to him to be put on a list for replacements if he can get them.

I would think these places would keep some extra copies on hand for defectives and replacements. You print up 5000 surely some will get lost in the mail or damaged. Wouldn't you get 5100 of each cover or disc? Just to be safe? I know I will definitely go off on them if they offer a signed version at a later date since that would prove they have extra copies stowed away. Use a box screen archives!

Agreed. I think it almost rivals the Technoir scene in The Terminator.

Interesting comparison considering what especially stood out in that scene for me was the "seduction theme/Come to me" chorus by Brad Fiedel, who also scored The Terminator ;)

Besides the 30th Anniversary Blu-Ray my other prized item is my complete 28 track CD soundtrack, which is a red case. Got it from ebay several years ago.

Makes sense since Brad Fidel did the score for both films.

Just back from Sundance and mine was here waiting for me (as well as Synapse's Prom Night and the NEVER SLEEP AGAIN book!). The case is intact. Can't wait to dig in. I love what Twilight Time is doing, though with the price tag these have I have to REALLY want it to buy, whereas others, priced at less than half of this, I might pick up on a whim.

Typical. I bought German release of Fright Night recently.

Dare I ask what the features are like on the Twilight Time re-release? I didn't read through all the posts here.

I'm kind of annoyed that I paid $8 in shipping and Fright Night now has a delivery estimate of February 12. Are you fucking kidding me? I got 2 orders from the goddamn UK that shipped 3 days AFTER this and they arrived yesterday. Why does stuff always take so bloody long coming from the US? I only live in Canada, this is ridiculous.

Just to follow up, they must have gotten the replacement clear cases in stock, because I just received one in the mail from Screen Archives. No artwork or booklet (neither were necessary, both of mine were fine), just an empty clear case. Definitely a nice surprise, only took them a week. So if anyone else got a damaged Fright Night case, you might want to give them a call.

I don't remember if I said anything bad about Screen Archives regarding this matter, but if I did, I take it back. ;)

Glad I didnĀ“t bother to get the new disc.
The compression problem would be very annoying on my big screen, and also, by turning up the brightness on the transfer, the colors are more pale now.

I actually prefer the new transfer over the old - although to be honest the difference is very slight to my eyes. The extras are solid as well

Yeah, same here. I have a 50" TV, and didn't notice any of the compression issues. I do still have the old TT disc also.

The new disc is worth it for all of the extras alone IMO.

Honestly, a second of macro-blocking which you don't even notice in motion anyway shouldn't be a deal breaker for anybody, and if it is you have ADD issues:rolleyes:. I'm very pleased with the 30th anniv. edition, not to mention all the nice extras.

It's a great edition. I didn't notice any issues, but I'm also not one to inspect every frame with a magnifying glass.

    Why does macro-blocking happen?
