Tough choice. I wish either The Night Stalker, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Dark Night of the Scarecrow, or Trilogy of Terror could have been placed into the C bracket.
I love Dark Night of the Scarecrow, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, and The Night Stalker. I went with Carl Kolchak.
So many heavy hitters on here. I had to pick The Night Stalker though. I love Kolchak and that was his best adventure.
The Night Stalker for me. I enjoy both Kolchak movies and the TV series. But the original is a much more resonant, serious work than all of the subsequent outings. That makes all the difference. The downbeat 70s ending is genuinely affecting. I'd also argue that this is the only Kolchak chapter that offers humor instead of clumsy comedy.
