From the director of IT FOLLOWS:

Freely admit I wasn't sure where to post this, in terms of subforums, but it looks to involve a cult and some haunting imagery, so went with General.

Release: limited on June 22, then wider release.

Same score composer as IT FOLLOWS, too!

Starring Andrew Garfield, Riley Keough and Topher Grace.

I've been looking forward to this for awhile now. I knew it was suppose to be a Noir, but I wasn't expecting it to be comedic in nature. Still looks good, even if I'm lukewarm on Andrew Garfield as of late.

After It Follows I'll check out anything the director works on.

I doubt anyone else has seen this since it barely got a theatrical release but I'd be curious to read anyone else's opinions. I really wanted to like it and I love to support anything outside the mainstream but it was really disappointing. Lots of interesting ideas thrown out but nothing was really explored and the ending was a complete WTF. I can see why it struggled to get a release.

^ It's available on VOD as well.

While the obvious comparison for the director would be Richard Kelly from Donnie Darko to Southland Tales, I liked this quite a bit more than Southland Tales (which I didn't like at all). It's a hot mess, but it still kept me engaged for its hefty 2 hr 20 min running time. Plus, it's quite striking to look at. I enjoyed it quite a bit for a self-indulgent vanity project.

I will agree that I can understand why A24 struggled to figure out how to release it. It's definitely not for everyone, and it's nowhere near as accessible as It Follows. If you don't take it too seriously, it's fairly fun.

Also, the cost of music rights for this movie must have been INSANE, specifically for one scene alone!
