I've not read anything on an R1 release. But the region free crowd can get this no problem, and I believe it was in the $80-$70 dollar range for the original single movie discs. Not bad at all. UK has them too,

I have no idea why they would make these OOP.

    They must hate money.

    When you're region-free, OOP is a relative thing :)

i am aware of the region free disks but i swear i heard something on the grape vine that they were suppost to be re releasing these.Thats a bummer that they went oop.I only picked up Dracula and bride of frankenstein.I should have got the box but missed out.And the high price on e bay is to much.

occasionally you can find a good price for the individual discs on ebay if you keep your eye on them. I got Bride of Frankenstein a while ago for about $20 a few months ago, and Frankenstein has been around there before, just not at times when I've had money...

Glad I got them when I did. Well, now that Univeral has been bought, who knows what will happen?

Good luck finding the double feature discs though, those things are stinking $$$ now.

The box is actually pretty cheap, I got it not too long ago. Around $160, which is completely reasonable at $20 per disc for an OOP set.

I was lucky! This guy named Mutley Hyde told me about this, just when the OOP was announced. I got the 8 movie box set and all of the dbl dvds.

I also have all the double DVD's. They go for around $50 each now. When they are reissued (as they inevitably will be) they'll be worth even less! :D

DVDEmpire.com somehow still has Bride of Frankenstein for sale.

The rumor was that Universal would re-release them in Summer 2004 in conjunction with the theatrical release of Van Helsing. There hasn't been any official announcement though, as far as I know.

I picked them up when I heard the news too.
Thing is I passed on a few for a while thinking these
classics will never go out of print then had to search
hard to get them when they did.. I would like to see double features with the creature and invisible man
    sequels.

Alas, I missed getting the double feature discs, but I did get the first two sets (Except for ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN-Is that still available?).
