Well, being in Toronto there are shops downtown that sell them. You can also get most of the Warner Archive titles through amazon.ca, so there's that option. The TCM website sells them too and I believe they ship to Canada. And doesn't deepdiscount carry these DVD-R titles?

Good to see confirmation that SHRINKING WOMAN is 1:85 Anamorphic Widescreen, and I just got some more confirmation from a facebook friend who just recieved THE ISLAND. It IS anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1). Excellent. Now, any news on TARANTULA's aspect ratio?

Yeah but it's been out of print for years. I'd kill for a Blu-ray of this film. It's one of my favorites. Heck, they can release an HD transfer on a BD-R and I'll jump at it.

    Fucking cheap MOD crap!

"Tarantula" etc are avalible over here in Sweden from Universal on REAL pressed discs at really low prices these days.

This MOD crap is killing catalogue collecting from the big studios.

Why the hell pay lots of money for the same DVD-R that you can download from a torrent in the same exact file.

Just burn it yourself and print the cover, and you have the same damn thing as the MOD edition.

Fucking greedy studios going the cheap ass "bootleg" way!

Exactly cause they think that's the only way they'll make any money off of these films.

Now that I know it's in anamorphic widescreen, I may pick up The Island.

You just know they're making some good money on some of these releases too. These would be far more attractive if they were under $10 each retail. They're charging as much for MOD discs as actual silver disc releases.

And now we're getting DVD-R reissues of films that had previously silver disc releases... ridiculous. :eek2:

Not entirely sure I agree with all your "fuckityfuckfuckfuck" comments. However yeah have to completely agree with you this. There is a sucker born every min as they say. I just can't bring myself to blow money on bootlegs.

Yeah and they are blurring the lines between legit and fake. Won't be long before homemade copies float around the internet market.

:nervous: You know that's a scary thought right there. I was referring to the movies on demand being bootlegged. Now they I think about it some more. There is bound to be a bunch of fakes out there. Guess if you must own these better buy them directly from the actual distributor.

Or there's option B which is these studios could act like real studios & release them to stores & make them readily available to the general public.

Well that is just way too much logic for the studios.
