agreed. they're not tricking anybody into thinking they're new films or anything. and they're just pissing off existing fans by not providing the original cover art. nobody's happy with that shit.

Thing about those new covers is that they don't trigger any special memories. As a kid, I really identified the Friday the 13th films by their US theatrical poster art on the VHS covers - not by the "PART whatever" on the cover. It's simply a part of the movie's identity - not unlike a music album's original cover art. If people don't recognize the art, they probably don't recognize the movies/music albums either and then you lose potential buyers who aren't going to waste their time researching if this was in fact the product they remembered. But anyway, I'm beating a dead horse.

Everyone complains about those covers and while they were not great they were a million times better than the shitty boxset cover art with the stupid pointy photoshop font. At lease these used the original Friday the 13th logo.

I'm one of the crazies that bought all of the Deluxe Editions, so this boxset does nothing for me.

I'm just tired of Paramount's bullshit, all I want is 4-8 on blu-ray. they can keep them the way they are I just don't care anymore. If they don't release 4-8 in blu-ray then I say Fuck Paramount!!!!!

So I was looking at the said new boxset on Dvdaficionado.com only to find this
Friday the 13th: The Ultimate Collection - Limited Edition
    - Friday the 13th ('True' Rated Version) (1980)
    - Friday the 13th Part 2 (Rated) (1981)
    - Friday the 13th Part 3 ( Friday the 13th Part 3: 3D ) (Rated) (1982)
    - Friday the 13th Part 4: The Final Chapter ( Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter ) (Rated) (1984)
    - Friday the 13th Part 5: A New Beginning (Rated) (1985)
    - Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives (Rated) (1986)
    - Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood (Rated) (1988)
    - Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan (Rated) (1989)
    - Friday the 13th: Killer Extras (Bonus Disc) (2004)
Apparently by the looks of it the new boxset looks a hell of alot like the old boxset.
Unless this is a misprint I think Paramount's screwing us around again.

unless I am confused this seems like a box with the 8 SE dvd's in a new box with the mask as an extra basically. That's it?

I own two Friday the 13th books, so the 8 page booklet doesn't really impress me

In a perfect world Paramount would just give the Friday rights off to another company. At this point it's honestly beginning to look like they're actually trying they're best to piss off the fans.

The only people who I can see buying this new set would be those who never picked up the deluxe editions the first go round. This set is pretty useless for anyone who already has the deluxe editions and/or 1-3 on BD.

The release date is October 4th. dvdempire.com has it as a pre-release. http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_item.asp?item_id=1581175

It looks like there is no commentary for Part 3 on this set? Darn.

Wow, those pictures of the boxset are so underwhelming. The mask looks so cheap and sucky and a new booklet with rehashed info isn't going to sell me as I have the old box and the DE dvds already. Would've bought a blu box in a second, so great work Paramount, welcome to the world of retarted business descions.

I feared the day BD's would start being cropped to 1.78 for Joe, bad enough cable does it, but now it sounds like it's coming home. I fucking hate that Joe Six-Pack fucker, fuck him and and his stupid tastes!

Who'd even bother buying this box of shit, unless they never bought the DE's? Paramount went from sucking, to promising...to sucking again.

I'm certainly not bothering with antiquated DVD's again. Bring on the other Blu-rays bitches!

Of course not, the discs are the exact same as the previous Deluxe Editions.

That info is for the first boxset...

This new box has 8 discs and the old one has 9.

I wouldn't take DVDAficionado's word for it. We already know these are re-releases of the old Deluxe Editions, just in boxset form. Part 1 is uncut, so that listing on DVDAf is already wrong.

I'm usually not one to start something like this but seriously...petition, people?
