Cause to them it is, it's just another way to get out their library titles under a new banner. Unfortunately they're the ones choosing which ones to put on the new brand which doesn't sit well with some of us fans.
You know we don't like bitching at or about studios, we just want to own our favorite films in the best quality they can be & right now that happens to be blu-ray. But these studios for one seem like they don't care about the fans of these films & what they seem to not be getting is that we are willing to spend the money if they did it right the first time.

The problem is that Paramount seems to be the worst offender when it comes to not understanding Blu-ray's position in the marketplace. While most other studios have long since realized that Blu-ray is no longer a niche format, Paramount continues to hold on to DVD as its primary platform. Thats not to say that they don't have some great Blu-ray releases, but they seem to not have realized that DVD is past its prime & that most folks who are interested in a title previously released on DVD have already purchased that and few have any interest in double-dipping on DVD releases now that a superior product has secured its position as heir to DVD. Why they don't realize this is beyond me, as all the other studios seem to have come to this revelation- perhaps there is a studio exec at Paramount who has been getting a cut of DVD royalty checks from Toshiba for too long & just can't let go. :D

What Paramount seems not to get is not everybody & their dog want these films & the fans that do already have them. Cause speaking for myself & a few others we have every version of the Friday films you can get except the Blu-ray ones. But instead of listening to the fans & doing right by them, they seem to want offend them & go after the mass market. The sooner these studios realise that they have fans of their franchises the better off we'll be. Cause even MGM has been sitting on their Bond films instead of releasing on big box set they released three assorted ones & then stopped.

They probably won't come out till Super-Duper-Superbit-Blu-Ray's have been on the market for 5 years.

If Warner can release a fucking blu ray boxset of the Nightmare on Elm Street films, PARAMOUNT CAN DO THE SAME WITH FRIDAY THE 13TH!

Jesus will they be breaking the bank THAT MUCH if they choose to release the rest in high def!?

I don't doubt that the rest of the Friday the 13th films will be released on blu-ray, and probably within the next two or three years. What pisses me off is that they continually waste time and money on shit like this when they could just cut to the chase and release what the main target audience wants.

That was my thought, it would save them alot of time & money if they just released the good stuff first. I'm not sure who's running Paramount these days but he seems like a real idiot.

    From the Fridaythe13thfilmsfranchise site:

12.15.2011 - Fans should expect a lot of news for the new soundtrack box set to be forthcoming in the next three weeks with the release date quickly approaching. Yesterday we reported on the debut of the box cover for the 6 CD set which included the vintage silhouette figure from Friday The 13th Part 2. The question most asked is how much for the box set and how can they pre-order? We now have some news for those questions.

Dark Delecacies will be hosting a signing event for fans to attend, purchase the box set, and then have it signed by Harry Manfredini in person. There are also plans to have other people from the films in attendance as well, but those people have not been announced yet. There will also be a screening of a film or two, more to be announced soon! In the mean time, here is the skinny on the signing event and how to pre-order the box set from Dark Delecacies' website.

On January 14th at 2 p.m., Harry Manfredini will be signing the Collector's Edition of the entire scores to Friday the 13th Parts 1-6, a six-cd set with a 40-page booklet containing cool pics and great liner notes. Special guests to be announced. If you are unable to attend the event, you can place an order for the box set directly on the Dark Delecacies website (scroll to the bottom of the page), which will include the signature of Harry Manfredini. The cost is $69.98, without shipping included. This will be a separate pre-order than what La-La Land Records will have, we guess, and the cost will probably be a bit cheaper as we assume Harry's signature will not be included.

F13 fans have to realize one big factor in Paramount's seeming disinterest in getting fully behind any quality releases of the films: they are embarrassed by them.

Then they need to license out the rights to a company who will release them. Paramount has no excuses anymore other than they just want to be dicks and irritate the fans of the series who made it the multi million dollar franchise that it has become. I fucking hate Paramount.

They should do like they did with My Bloody Valentine and license them to Lionsgate. They'd all be released on the same day, and after a few weeks you could probably pick up each one for $5 at Target.

Yeah but that would make sense, but this is Paramount we're talking about.

Anyone know how much Kane Hodder charges to go to someone's house & kick the shit out of them, I'm thinking the president of Paramount.

There's no concerted effort to irritate the fans. Paramount simply doesn't care.

Which understand, but isn't this their second biggest franchise after Star Trek? If that's the case I think alittle respect is in order.

For the most part, Paramount doesn't really have a lot of respect for Star Trek, either. How many crap DVD releases of the original series did we get before this new restored Blu-ray release?

And how long did we have to put up with the current crap DVD releases of the Next Generation before the upcoming Blu-rays got announced?
