I bought Deathstalker on DVD maybe 15 years ago and I've only watched it once. I'm happy that Shout has a success with that one but it's not for me.

Man, I feel I got ripped by getting that time walker blu at the price I paid.. I also see that someone selling new copies on ebay for $49.99 too.. I don't think they will sell like the deathstalker ones.. You wait till deathstalker is totally OOP, they will skyrocket on there..

Then why'd you pay it? What were you expecting exactly, gold leaf on the cover? Sell it on ebay then and make some money.

I received mine earlier and couldn't be happier.

I've got your answer. You watch Carrie ('76). Then you watch "Acting Carrie" and "Visualizing Carrie", two of my all-time favorite extras. I called them "Docu-commentaries" in my review here many years ago, as they go scene-by-scene through the movie, and everyone talks about them. I found it far more informative than a commentary, as a short scene with commentary will only allow a short discussion before they move on to the next scene. With the "Docu-commentary", everyone can weigh in at length if they want to. Like the scene where Miss Collins slaps Chris Hargensen. You get Betty Buckley's take on it, then you get Nancy Allen's. Fantastic extra-features, and I guarantee that after you watch them, you'll want to see the entire movie again. So that's the next one on your list.
After that, you can pop in Carrie 2 if you like. It's a decent 90s horror movie, not a classic, but certainly enjoyable. Then you end the marathon, because that's all you need to see.

Deathstalker / Deathstalker II is sold out.

Awesome news. Shows people's interest in fantasy films. Maybe this will entice them to release a Deathstalker III/ Deathstalker IV or a Barbarian Queen I / Barbarian Queen II double feature. Or even a Barbarian Queen I / The Warrior and the Sorceress double feature.

    Fingers crossed for these blu's:

    The Barbarians
    The Sword and Sorcerer
    Beastmaster

Any of these three would be a easy sell out imho.

The suspicious part of me wonders if Shout is losing the rights to these movies soon and that's why they're doing these limited releases. I wouldn't be that surprised to see a different company release them in a few years.

Word is Roger Corman is selling his vast holdings, and is barring further licensing until he does. So while my understanding is Shout still has their Corman titles for a good while yet (and won't be directly affected by any such sale), they may not be able to renew when they expire either because Corman's sold off his holdings and the new owners aren't licensing, or they're not available again until they do sell.

So a limited run with higher price tag is probably their best option for the foreseeable future.
